Hybrid Cloud Engineer  

Position Overview 

TEGNA is looking for a Hybrid Cloud Engineer to join the dynamic engineering team. The TEGNA IT Infrastructure team represents a wide range of technologies and competencies. Working in tandem with peers, other teams, departments, business units and outside vendors, the team assists in the evaluation, implementation, and support of technology solutions toward business objectives. The analyst in this position will contribute to the design, implementation, and support of on premise and cloud components to core business applications and will participate in migrations to multiple public cloud platforms. 

As part of a team, the candidate will build, maintain, support technical systems and applications for business at data centres, cloud, and television stations.  This requires comprehensive knowledge of server, storage, cloud, and networking components required to maintain the business. 

What You’ll Do 

  • Design, implement and maintain server and storage components for on-premises and public cloud.
  • Working with technical and non-technical internal customers, provide in-depth consultation and communication for technology solutions. 
  • Lead the design, building, testing, documentation and implementation of systems management practices associated with AWS Cloud engineer, Nutanix exp/VM ware, PowerShell, Python-to Automate the tasks, Storage, Networking to include security, performance monitoring and capacity planning, disaster recovery planning, problem management, operational management and change management.
  • Daily system checks, maintenance, upgrades.
  • Tier 3 support for Technology teams across business units.
  • Manage and execute special projects.
  • Resolve problems and document resolutions.
  • React to changes positively, handle other essential tasks as assigned, and productively challenge the status quo as appropriate. 

What you bring 

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in supporting and implementing enterprise core infrastructure components.
  • Hands-on experience with Cloud Workload Deployment and Support across AWS, Google Cloud, and/or Azure environments.  
  • Strong experience in Active Directory Domain Administration.
  • Experience in Enterprise Operating Systems Deployment and Support, including Windows and/or Linux.
  • Expertise in Enterprise Virtualization/Hyperconverged technologies such as Nutanix/KVM and/or VMware.
  • Experience in DNS and PKI Infrastructure Administration.
  • Strong knowledge of Storage and Server Deployment and Support.
  • Experience working on on-premise to cloud migrations and IT transformation initiatives.
  • Proven ability to lead projects from inception, planning, and implementation through completion.
  • Hands-on experience with automation and scripting using Python and/or PowerShell.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple complex tasks and projects independently as well as collaboratively within a team. 

 Preferred Qualification 

  • Cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Associate/Professional, Azure Administrator, or Google Cloud Engineer.
  • Virtualization certifications such as Nutanix NCP, VMware VCP, or equivalent hands-on certifications.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools including Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible for automation and provisioning. 
  • Experience with Monitoring & DevOps tools such as Splunk, Prometheus, Nagios, Datadog, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines.  
  • Strong understanding of ITIL processes including Incident, Problem, and Change Management; ITIL certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of content performance tracking and reporting tools.
