The Role
Telnyx is powering the next generation of real-time communications — from global telephony and messaging to AI-driven voice assistants and WebRTC infrastructure. We’re looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to embed directly with customers and bring Telnyx technology to life in production environments across the EMEA region, based out of our Amsterdam office.
In this role, you’ll combine strong software engineering fundamentals with customer-facing skills to architect, build, and deploy solutions that showcase the full power of the Telnyx platform. You’ll work hands-on with enterprise customers, helping them turn complex communications and AI requirements into reliable, scalable systems in production.
Responsibilities
-
Partner closely with enterprise customers across EMEA to understand their communications workflows, AI use cases, and integration requirements
-
Design and deliver custom implementations using AI Voice Assistant tools, Telnyx APIs (Voice, Messaging, Fax, Wireless, etc.), and WebRTC
-
Lead proofs-of-concept, pilots, and full production deployments, ensuring technical success and measurable business outcomes
-
Work cross-functionally with Product and Engineering to provide customer-driven feedback that helps shape Telnyx’s roadmap (e.g., Voice AI, in-portal assistant builder, BYOC trunking)
-
Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize real-time communication solutions (SIP, RTP, Opus/PCMU codecs, SRTP/TLS)
-
Produce clear technical documentation, runbooks, and handoff materials to ensure long-term maintainability
-
Act as a trusted technical advisor and champion for customers, ensuring they unlock the full value of the Telnyx platform
What We’re Looking For
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
-
3+ years of experience in software engineering, solutions engineering, or customer-facing technical consulting roles
-
Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript/Node.js, Go)
-
Hands-on experience working with APIs, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native or serverless deployments
-
Familiarity with SIP, WebRTC, or real-time voice and messaging technologies
-
Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes
-
Comfort debugging ambiguous problems in unfamiliar customer environments
-
Willingness to travel and work directly with customers across the EMEA region (approximately 10–30%)
Preferred Skills
-
Experience integrating or deploying AI voice assistants, speech-to-text systems, or LLM-based conversational applications
-
Experience with SQL and relational databases (Postgres, MySQL, Oracle)
-
ETL and data wrangling experience, including transformations, cleaning, and integrating disparate data sources
-
Familiarity with DevOps practices and tooling (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines)
-
Previous experience in telecom, CPaaS, or high-growth SaaS environments
-
Strong sense of ownership and comfort operating in fast-paced, customer-first environments
-
Knowledge of IAM, encryption, and audit logging best practices
-
Additional European or regional language skills (beyond English) are a strong plus
