Summary
We have an opening for a Senior Engineering Manager in our Cloud Data Store team which is innovating cloud storage and rethinking the persistence layer of Temporal in a customized way. We’re solving hard distributed systems problems related to databases and the way storage works for the cloud. The charter of CDS team is to increase the reliability, and scalability and reduce COGS of running Cloud Temporal. See what the CDS team has been working on recently.
What You'll Do
- Support and develop a team of engineers through feedback and coaching - you set context and expectations while eliminating barriers to execution.
- Own team-wide responsibility for day-to-day execution against priorities.
- Foster key partnerships between leadership, engineering, and product teams.
- Collaborate across teams to align roadmaps.
- Develop multi-year roadmaps and establish the vision for CDS scalability, reliability, and engineering velocity.
- Drive major system architecture and execution relative to Cloud datastore and related areas.
- Engage with key customers to help understand their requirements and enable their business.
- Ensure team members understand priorities and have the tools and processes needed to meet shipping deadlines.
- Maintain a culture of engineering and operational excellence.
What You'll Bring
- B.S. or graduate degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
- Prior demonstrated results as a Software Engineer with strong distributed design and coding skills.
- Excellent people leadership and growth - at least 3 years of experience leading a team of Senior/Staff level Software Engineers.
- Experience with managing large scale databases or stateful services.
- Experience with cloud operations managing large-scale traffic.
- Experience with cloud providers, such as AWS, GCP, and/or Azure.
- Experience in building and leading the development of complex distributed software systems and microservices for a cloud organization (SaaS offering).
- Superior collaboration skills and experience driving alignment across an organization and drafting long-term roadmaps.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and a willingness to communicate complex solutions and results to all levels of the organization.
Nice to Have
- Production experience with concurrency programming, Go, Open Source Systems, workflow engines.
Compensation
- The estimated pay range for this role is $220,000 - $260,000
- This role is eligible to participate in Temporal's equity plan
Compensation ranges reflect salary and commission compensation (when applicable) across several geographic markets. Employment offers carefully consider multiple factors, including prior experience, knowledge, expertise, skillset, market location, and job level assessed during the interview process.
