Foodservice Sales Lead

Are you looking to make a difference in the world? Tender Food is revolutionizing the food industry by solving a major global challenge: how to make meat production ethical and sustainable. Going beyond plant-based burgers, we are developing plant-based whole-cuts of meat using innovations in materials science and manufacturing. Spun out of Harvard University’s Wyss Institute in 2020, our technology will transform how the world eats. We’ve just raised our Series A, launched in our first fast casual restaurant partner, and we’re ready to rapidly accelerate our growth.

Our early products (plant-based shredded pork, beef short rib, and chicken breast), have unbeatable texture and taste, a simple list of <10 recognizable plant-based ingredients, are high in fiber and protein, and are performing extremely well at our early foodservice partners.

Want to join in on the action? We are looking for a driven, scrappy, and Foodservice Sales Manager to join our team and get their hands dirty while leading the charge to expand our sales footprint across all segments in the Boston area and beyond.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the sales funnel and lead execution of our foodservice sales strategy to drive growth, visibility, and hype in our market
  • Build and maintain high-level relationships with key customer stakeholders, distributors, and restaurant partners to meet (and exceed) sales targets.

  • Partner with existing distributors and drive efforts to build relationships with new distributors
  • Partner with the Marketing / Customer Success team to support existing customers

  • Be our eyes, ears, and brain in the market – reporting to leadership on trends, customer needs, competitor activities, and new opportunities

You Have (Preferred Qualifications):

  • 5+ years of experience in a sales / BD role in food or a relevant industry, with a proven history of driving significant revenue growth, exceeding sales goals, and new market expansion.
  • Extensive experience managing complex sales pipelines, successfully managing 15+ high-value prospects/customers/partners simultaneously, with a demonstrated ability to close large deals.
  • Experience managing a CRM and developing insightful reporting.

  • Strong willingness to travel as needed to oversee daily sales operations within the area.
  • Flexible and solution-oriented – you are open to learning, pivoting as plans adjust, and can adjust your approach quickly.
  • You either have experience in restaurants or can build ‘operator empathy’ for the unique challenges restaurant operators face and engage with that environment.
  • Mission-aligned - to be a great fit, you are not just looking to cash a paycheck, you are excited about our mission, have a passion to change the world for the better.
  • You are excited about joining an early-stage startup, where you will work autonomously on high-impact projects, wear multiple hats, pivot rapidly, and solve critical challenges.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
