The Opportunity

Teneo is seeking a talented and driven Senior Vice President with a passion for strategic communications to join our Strategy and Communications team in the Hong Kong SAR office. As Teneo continues to expand its operations in Asia Pacific, this role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic and growing consultancy.

Teneo’s Strategy and Communications service provides integrated communications counsel to business leaders and CEOs. This role is part of a thriving team advising high-profile clients on corporate reputation and campaigning, helping them create effective narratives, engage with key stakeholders, and deliver high-impact campaigns that support strategic objectives.

As a Senior Vice President, you will lead client accounts and be a primary contact for clients, responsible for delivering the highest quality service. You will drive activity across multiple account teams, provide regular insights and analysis, and support clients’ reputational and strategic goals. You will also play a pivotal role in retaining and developing top talent, serving as both a team leader and mentor/coach.

This role focuses on corporate reputation and campaigning, advising clients on strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and impactful storytelling. We encourage our team members to develop their advisory skills across disciplines such as digital, creative campaigning, corporate communications, change and employee engagement, leadership coaching, sustainability, strategy and research, issues and crisis management, and management consultancy to solve complex business challenges.

Responsibilities
As a Senior Vice President with the Strategy and Communications team at Teneo, your role will include:

  • Client Leadership & Strategic Advisory - Serve as a trusted advisor to multinational clients on all aspects of corporate reputation, campaigning, and strategic communications. Lead the development and deployment of integrated communications strategies, leveraging research, insights, and Teneo’s global resources. Provide expert counsel on reputation management, stakeholder engagement, and proactive storytelling as well as advise clients on special situations, issues management, and crisis communications.
  • Campaigning & Communications Execution - Oversee the planning and execution of high-impact, multi-channel campaigns (media, digital, internal comms, etc.) to shape public perception and drive client objectives. Ensure quality assurance of content development across diverse formats (key messages, talking points, speeches, op-eds, media engagements). Monitor media narratives, geopolitical risks, and reputational issues, providing timely advisory notes and insights to clients.
  • Account Management – Lead on account delivery, managing a team of experts to deliver high quality client servicing and acting as the main point person with the client. Actively coach and mentor junior team members.
  • Client Management – Build and maintain strong relationships with the client, seeking growth opportunities where possible. Proactively manage the client and work to take advantage of opportunities/ resolve issues as needed.
  • Business Development – Actively build a network of new client/ prospect relationships, working on new business opportunities including leading proposals and participating in client pitch meetings. Demonstrates commercial acumen in costing and managing the delivery or projects. Develops understanding and fluency across Teneo’s wide breathd of service offerings.
  • Leadership – Takw responsibility for managing junior colleagues, supporting their performance reviews and career growth within the firm. Supporting the smooth running of client servicing operations.

Furthermore, you will be expected to:

  • Build strong relationships, fostering long-term partnerships and seeking organic growth opportunities through new business proposal development;
  • Create advisory notes for client leadership, addressing media narratives, geopolitical risks, and reputational issues, while monitoring media coverage for clients and competitors;
  • Provide support and insight to your client teams, proactively highlighting opportunities, and potential areas of concern;
  • Build a strong network of effective relationships internally and externally;
  • Proactively seek formal and informal learning and development opportunities to support your professional growth and contribute to the sharing of learnings across the wider team; and
  • Actively coach and mentor junior members on your account teams.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10-15 years of experience in corporate communications, campaigning, or strategic advisory roles.
  • Expertise in media relations, crisis communications, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong track record of galvanizing high stakes relationships with both regional and international media
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; native English language skills are required,
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in communications, public policy, international relations, or related fields.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Creative and strategic thinker with the ability to translate complexity into compelling narratives.
  • Proven track record in managing complex briefs and delivering high-quality client service.
  • Expertise in client servicing and possessing a project management mindset
  • Leadership Skills: strong management and organizational skills with the ability to develop and execute multiplatform strategies for clients while working with the client and account teams
  • Executive Presence: gravitas, confidence, ability to present to a CEO (C-Suite leadership team)
  • Additional language skills, such as Mandarin or Cantonese are an advantage.

The kind of information we hold about you

If you do not provide personal information

You are under no statutory or contractual obligation to provide data to us during the recruitment process. However, if you do not provide information when requested, which is necessary for us to consider your application (such as evidence of qualifications, work history and satisfactory references), we will not be able to process your application.

Who has access to personal data

  • Your information may be shared internally within the company for the purposes of the recruitment process. This includes members of the HR team, interviewers involved in the recruitment process and managers in the relevant business area.
  • We may share your information with other companies within the Teneo group if, for example the role and or hiring managers are located outside of the EEA or you are applying for a senior management position, and with third parties outside of the EEA. We will make sure that appropriate safeguards are in place to ensure the confidentiality and security of your personal data.
  • Your information may be shared with a recruitment agency or search consultancy with whom you have registered or instructed to feedback on interviews or process your application or the contacts you have nominated as your referees.
  • Your information may be shared with a third party provider of skills, aptitude or psychometric testing used in the selection process or a third party provider of recruitment software. Any third party provider will be acting under our instructions and will process your personal data for the purposes set out in this Notice and in accordance with our instructions. Any third party provider will be required to have appropriate security measures in place to protect your personal information in line with our policies.
  • Graduate Entry: If you have made an application to our graduate scheme we may share your information with a third party service provider who acts on our behalf to assist with our graduate recruitment. Any third party provider will be acting under our instructions and will process your personal data for the purposes set out in this Notice and in accordance with our instructions. Any third party provider will be required to have appropriate security measures in place to protect your personal information in line with our policies.

Data security

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal information from being accidentally lost or destroyed, misused or disclosed and is not accessed except by our personnel in the proper performance of their duties.

Data retention

How long will you keep my information for?

If your application for employment is unsuccessful, we will keep your data 3 years after we have informed you that your application was unsuccessful. We keep your data for this period so that we can show that the recruitment process has been conducted in a fair and transparent way. We also retain your personal data so that we can notify you of future job opportunities if they arise.  At the end of this period, we will securely destroy your personal data.

If your application for employment is successful, personal data collected during the recruitment process will be transferred to your personnel file and retained during your employment. Further details on this are provided in the Employee Privacy Notice.

Your rights in connection with personal information

Under certain circumstances, by law you have the right to:

  • Request access to your personal information
  • Request correction of the personal information that we hold about you.
  • Request erasure of your personal information where there is no good reason for us continuing to process it
  • Object to processing of your personal information where there is something about your particular situation which makes you want to object to processing on this ground.
  • Request the restriction of processing of your personal information.
  • Request the transfer of your personal information to another party.
