System Test Engineer
About Tensordyne (formerly Recogni)
Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming our world. It can perform cognitive functions that previously only humans could do, such as perceiving interactions across different modalities and environments - with the ability to quickly learn and then solve complex problems. Tensordyne is an AI system solution company that builds very high-performance, low-power generative AI inference systems. Our mission, through the creation of custom silicon, hardware and software, is to enable multimodal Generative AI inference acceleration at scale, with safe, sustainable, high-performance systems for our hyperscaler and neocloud data center customers. We are at the leading edge of advancing the latest research and product improvements for generative Al inference solutions that will make Al even more advantageous for compelling new generative AI applications.Tensordyne is a well funded, fast-paced startup company with headquarters in both Sunnyvale, CA, and Munich, Germany. We also have many talented team members working remotely across North America and Europe. We take care of our people and their families with comprehensive benefits, competitive compensation, flexible spending options, and recognition programs, because building category-defining technology starts with a healthy, supported team. Come join us as we shape the future of multimodal generative artificial intelligence!

The Opportunity:
We’re looking for a System Test Engineer to own and drive the design, automation, and execution of comprehensive system-level testing for our high-performance AI computing platforms. In this role, you’ll:
- Design, architect and implement system test plans that reflect real-world use cases, performance benchmarks, and production-readiness criteria.
- Develop and extend a scalable test automation framework integrated with our SDK for test-case generation.
- Implement test methodologies for validating complex interactions across compute nodes, networking, storage, and distributed software systems.
- Verify system behavior across hardware revisions and software builds and analyze large volumes of test data to pinpoint failure modes.
- Devise and maintain a modular test harness that supports simulation, emulation, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
- Collaborate closely with hardware, software, and AI systems teams to ensure alignment of test coverage with engineering milestones. Be hands-on engaged in setting up our test lab facility.
This role is hands-on, high-impact, and visible across the organization—ideal for engineers who want to make real systems work, at scale.
What you’ll bring:
- Experience in system-level testing or validation of computing platforms, embedded systems, or hardware/software co-designed products.
- Hands-on deep familiarity with Python and Bash scripting. Experience with Linux-based environments, Docker, and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions) to automate test flows.
- Hands-on with test frameworks such as PyTest, Robot Framework, or custom harnesses; ability to extend or build from scratch.
- Hands on Python automation libraries development.
- Experience with network and storage systems (e.g., Infiniband, Ethernet, NFS, S3, NAS/SAN) and associated performance benchmarks.
- Solid background in using software development tracking tools for tracking test plans, results, and defects.
- Where you will stand out: a) experience in leading small high-performance teams; b) deep and hands-on understanding of GenAI models (e.g., LLMs, stable diffusion, mixture-of-experts, text-to-video, etc.) and their accuracy metrics; c) experience with building and maintaining test labs and equipment, including the procurement of equipment.
