Heterogeneous SoC Simulation Architect
Tenstorrent is leading the industry on cutting-edge AI technology, revolutionizing performance expectations, ease of use, and cost efficiency. With AI redefining the computing paradigm, solutions must evolve to unify innovations in software models, compilers, platforms, networking, and semiconductors. Our diverse team of technologists have developed a high performance RISC-V CPU from scratch, and share a passion for AI and a deep desire to build the best AI platform possible. We value collaboration, curiosity, and a commitment to solving hard problems. We are growing our team and looking for contributors of all seniorities.
We are looking for an experienced Heterogeneous SoC Simulation Architect. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the development of advanced simulation environments for cutting-edge computing architectures composed of CPU, ML compute, memory, and scale-up and scale-out network technologies. Workloads to be evaluated consist of cutting-edge ML as well as future-looking heterogeneous programs. You will collaborate with hardware engineers, software developers, and domain experts to deliver simulation environments that will guide architectural design and optimization.
This is open to remote or in-person at one of our offices.
We welcome candidates at various experience levels for this role. During the interview process, candidates will be assessed for the appropriate level, and offers will align with that level, which may differ from the one in this posting.
Who You Are:
- A hands-on architect with deep experience in building and scaling simulation environments.
- Skilled at balancing simulation accuracy and performance to drive architectural decisions.
- Experienced in optimizing ML applications across both hardware micro-architecture and software stacks.
- A collaborator who communicates effectively across hardware, software, and research teams.
- Curious and forward-thinking, eager to explore emerging technologies in ML, HPC and data-center system design.
What We Need:
- 15+ years of experience in large-scale simulation environments.
- Strong skills in coding performance models in C++ and building simulation frameworks (e.g., GEM5, SST).
- Expertise in HPC or data-center architecture design: processors, accelerators, interconnects, and memory systems.
- Proficiency in analyzing large-scale workloads using open-source or custom simulation tools.
- Strong programming skills (C, C++, Fortran, Python) and familiarity with parallel programming (MPI, OpenMP, CUDA, OpenCL).
What You Will Learn:
- Best practices in scaling simulation environments to model real-world HPC, data-center, and AI workloads.
- Advanced techniques for combining abstract and cycle-accurate simulations to accelerate architecture exploration.
- Approaches for workload-driven design decisions across compute, memory, and interconnect subsystems.
- Insights into cutting-edge technologies for parallel programming, high-speed interconnects, and heterogeneous architectures.
- Industry trends shaping the next generation of large-scale system design.
Compensation for all engineers at Tenstorrent ranges from $100k - $500k including base and variable compensation targets. Experience, skills, education, background and location all impact the actual offer made.
Tenstorrent offers a highly competitive compensation package and benefits, and we are an equal opportunity employer.
This offer of employment is contingent upon the applicant being eligible to access U.S. export-controlled technology. Due to U.S. export laws, including those codified in the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the Company is required to ensure compliance with these laws when transferring technology to nationals of certain countries (such as EAR Country Groups D:1, E1, and E2). These requirements apply to persons located in the U.S. and all countries outside the U.S. As the position offered will have direct and/or indirect access to information, systems, or technologies subject to these laws, the offer may be contingent upon your citizenship/permanent residency status or ability to obtain prior license approval from the U.S. Commerce Department or applicable federal agency. If employment is not possible due to U.S. export laws, any offer of employment will be rescinded.
