
Sr. Data Center Specialist, Cloud Infrastructure

The Sr. Data Center Specialist position is a critical role for building out and managing new data center capacity in Toronto (Markham), Canada, as well as collaborating with local teams on existing data center deployments and computing lab spaces. We are looking for a professional with hands-on experience and interest in all aspects of data center operations. Someone who is eager to learn from and share your knowledge with your colleagues.
This role is hybrid OR remote, based out of the Toronto area, with a preference for someone based in Markham, ON.

Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute rack & stack operations for servers and networking equipment
- Collaborate with local and remote cross-functional teams
- Manage the shipping, receiving, and organization of data center hardware
- Maintain inventory for tools, accessories, equipment, and spare parts
- Maintain and develop operational documentation
- Procure relevant tools and equipment for operations
- Support engineering teams with hardware deployment and operational requirements
Experience & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on data center working experience
- Experience with the whole life cycle of data center hardware and infrastructure: planning, procurement, shipping, rack & stack, maintenance, RMA, and decommissioning
- Familiarity with AI hardware and custom server assembly
- Familiarity with networking hardware and operations (e.g., firewalls, TOR and management switches, ISP connectivity)
- Comfortable dealing with heavy server equipment, including operation of server lifts and pallet jacks
- Familiarity with relevant personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hearing protection
- Managing dense cabling (e.g., power, fiber, DAC, and ethernet)
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Network diagnostic skills
- Solid understanding of the Linux command line
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Ansible)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Practical knowhow of Git
- Certifications such as CompTIA Server+ are a plus
- Basic working knowledge of Python is a plus
- Familiarity with observability, monitoring and alerting tools
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and/or virtualization is a plus
Compensation for all engineers at Tenstorrent ranges from $100k - $500k including base and variable compensation targets. Experience, skills, education, background and location all impact the actual offer made.
