Machine Learning SoC architect
Tenstorrent is leading the industry on cutting-edge AI technology, revolutionizing performance expectations, ease of use, and cost efficiency. With AI redefining the computing paradigm, solutions must evolve to unify innovations in software models, compilers, platforms, networking, and semiconductors. Our diverse team of technologists have developed a high performance RISC-V CPU from scratch, and share a passion for AI and a deep desire to build the best AI platform possible. We value collaboration, curiosity, and a commitment to solving hard problems. We are growing our team and looking for contributors of all seniorities.
Tenstorrent is building cutting-edge ML SoCs and chiplets to power the next wave of robotics innovation—spanning autonomous vehicles, drones, industrial automation, and intelligent machines. We are seeking a SoC Architect to lead the definition and development of ML chiplet SoCs that enable advanced perception, decision-making, and control in real-world robotic systems. This is a pivotal technical leadership role focused on balancing performance, power, area (PPA), and reliability, while meeting the demanding safety standards of robotics platforms
This role is remote, based out of North America.
We welcome candidates at various experience levels for this role. During the interview process, candidates will be assessed for the appropriate level, and offers will align with that level, which may differ from the one in this posting.
Who You Are
- You are endlessly curious, with a passion for exploring new technologies and solving complex, system-level challenges.
- You’re self-motivated, capable of working both independently and collaboratively across teams.
- You bring a deep interest in robotics and machine learning, and are energized by the opportunity to drive innovation in intelligent machines.
- You’re a strong communicator, equally comfortable presenting architectural ideas as you are digging into technical bottlenecks with implementation teams.
- You thrive in fast-paced, cross-functional environments and are eager to make an impact on industry-defining products.
What We Need
- Own and author detailed architecture specifications for ML chiplets and SoCs targeting next-generation robotics platforms.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, partners, and customers to communicate architectural direction and tradeoffs.
- Innovate and define new architectural features to optimize PPA and meet robotics-specific requirements.
- Ensure solutions meet rigorous safety, reliability, and real-time constraints, including those required for automotive-grade systems.
- Collaborate with modeling teams to analyze real-world robotics use cases, identifying system bottlenecks and optimization opportunities.
- Provide ongoing architectural guidance to implementation teams across the project lifecycle, from idea to silicon delivery.
What You Will Learn
- Gain exposure to the full robotics stack—from autonomous vehicles and drones to industrial control and AI-enabled systems.
- Work with state-of-the-art ML architectures for vision, point cloud processing, LLMs, and control.
- Learn how open-source ML frameworks interface with Tenstorrent’s custom accelerators, and how real-time robotics systems integrate advanced silicon.
- Deepen your understanding of hardware-software co-design, real-world safety/reliability standards, and silicon performance tuning for robotics workloads.
- Collaborate with some of the brightest minds in ML, robotics, and silicon architecture.
