
Java Performance Optimization Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Java Performance Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will work on enabling, characterizing and optimizing the performance of Java workloads running on Tenstorrent hardware platforms. You will dive deep into the JVM internal, including JIT compilation, garbage collection and synchronization mechanisms, and apply advanced profiling and tuning techniques to improve performance across a variety of key Java workloads.
This role is remote , based out of North America.

What We Need

Ph.D. (or equivalent experience) in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Deep understanding of JVM internals, interpreter, JIT, and GC algorithms.

Strong skills in Java concurrency, threading models, and synchronization mechanisms.

Hands-on experience with Java Vector API and SIMD optimization.

Expertise in performance profiling/tuning with tools like perf, JFR, async-profiler, VisualVM, or YourKit.

Proficiency in Java, Python, C/C++, and RISC-V assembly.

Familiarity with SPECjbb and large-scale workloads (Spark, Hadoop, Cassandra).

Compensation for all engineers at Tenstorrent ranges from $100k - $500k including base and variable compensation targets. Experience, skills, education, background and location all impact the actual offer made.
