Tenstorrent is seeking a Staff System Software Engineer who will be responsible for design and development of the system software components of our next generation RISC-V systems. This covers a broad range from embedded and real-time systems to server platform designs, with versatile use cases for complex workloads. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to work on exciting projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
This role is remote, based out of the United States, or Australia.

Who You Are
- Experienced system software engineer with 3+ years delivering production-quality software.
- Strong in C/C++/Assembly and comfortable with Python, Rust, or Go.
- Skilled in Linux kernel development, device drivers, and low-level debugging.
- Familiar with RISC-V architecture, embedded/real-time systems, and HW/SW co-design.
What We Need
- Design, develop, and optimize system software components for RISC-V-based systems.
- Build and maintain OS, drivers, firmware, and libraries to support versatile hardware platforms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and open-source communities to define and deliver solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system-level issues, and contribute to co-design reviews for new architectures.
What You Will Learn
- Gain deep expertise in RISC-V system software across embedded, real-time, and server environments.
- Work on AI and ML workloads, accelerators, and hardware/software co-design.
- Contribute to and influence the broader open-source ecosystem in RISC-V.
- Grow technical leadership skills by shaping methodologies, tools, and cross-team processes.
Compensation for all engineers at Tenstorrent ranges from $100k - $500k including base and variable compensation targets. Experience, skills, education, background and location all impact the actual offer made.
