EDA Tools & Design Automation Engineer

Santa Clara, California, United States

Tenstorrent is leading the industry on cutting-edge AI technology, revolutionizing performance expectations, ease of use, and cost efficiency. With AI redefining the computing paradigm, solutions must evolve to unify innovations in software models, compilers, platforms, networking, and semiconductors. Our diverse team of technologists have developed a high performance RISC-V CPU from scratch, and share a passion for AI and a deep desire to build the best AI platform possible. We value collaboration, curiosity, and a commitment to solving hard problems. We are growing our team and looking for contributors of all seniorities.

Tenstorrent is seeking an EDA Tools & Design Automation Engineer to join the Mixed Signal Design Automation team. In this role, you will own the deployment, configuration, reliability, and ongoing evolution of the EDA tool environment used by our mixed-signal design teams. You will develop and maintain AI-enabled design-automation tooling; build automation using Python and EDA-specific scripting languages; partner with CAD on tool and PDK configuration; and help define and support scalable EDA flows that enable faster, more reliable mixed-signal design iteration.

This role is remote, based out of any location in North America.

We welcome candidates at various experience levels. During the interview process, candidates will be assessed for the appropriate level, and offers will align with that level, which may differ from the one in this posting.

Who You Are

  • You have 5+ years of experience supporting, configuring, or automating semiconductor EDA tools in an analog, mixed-signal, custom-design, CAD, or methodology environment.
  • You’re a strong Python engineer with experience in Tcl and/or Cadence SKILL, Linux-based EDA environments, and GUI or batch-flow integrations.
  • You apply software best practices—including version control, code review, testing, CI/CD, documentation, and maintainable design—and have experience with AI-assisted development tools.
  • You’re analytical and collaborative, able to troubleshoot complex issues and work effectively with CAD, PDK, infrastructure, layout, and design teams. A relevant degree or equivalent practical experience is welcome.

What We Need

  • Own the deployment, configuration, reliability, and evolution of the EDA environment for Tenstorrent’s mixed-signal design teams.
  • Develop, test, release, and support AI-enabled automation and workflows, primarily in Python, with Tcl or Cadence SKILL integrations as needed.
  • Partner with Design Automation and CAD to build workflows, configure tools and PDKs, qualify supported versions, and maintain reproducible environments.
  • Help standardize automation conventions, interfaces, and data formats, and resolve tool, configuration, PDK, and workflow issues. Experience with Cadence and Synopsys custom flows, OpenAccess, verification, extraction, simulation, or Slurm/HPC is a plus.

What You Will Learn

  • How mixed-signal design teams use EDA tools and automation across the design lifecycle.
  • How to evolve AI-enabled workflows that support faster, more reliable design iteration.
  • How tool and PDK configurations, qualification, and reproducible environments enable scalable design flows.
  • How to balance standardization with flexibility across open-source, in-house, and commercial tools while collaborating across engineering teams.

Compensation for all engineers at Tenstorrent ranges from $100k - $500k including base and variable compensation targets. Experience, skills, education, background and location all impact the actual offer made.

Tenstorrent offers a highly competitive compensation package and benefits, and we are an equal opportunity employer.
