With AI redefining the computing paradigm, solutions must evolve to unify innovations in software models, compilers, platforms, networking, and semiconductors. Our diverse team of technologists has developed a high-performance RISC-V CPU from scratch and share a passion for AI and a deep desire to build the best AI platform possible. We value collaboration, curiosity, and a commitment to solving hard problems. We are growing our team and looking for contributors of all seniorities.

We're looking for a Staff Manufacturing Engineer to help build Tenstorrent's in-house ability to launch, stabilize and recover our hardware products as they scale across contract manufacturers. You'll help stand up our NPI site, which supports prototype and EVT builds, RMA and failure analysis. You'll also help define the process specs that turn a working prototype into a reliable product at volume. You'll work closely with design, electrical, mechanical, test, quality and CM partners so that manufacturing is part of the design conversation from the start.

This role is hybrid, based out of Toronto, ON.

We welcome candidates at various experience levels for this role. During the interview process, candidates will be assessed for the appropriate level, and offers will align with that level, which may differ from the one in this posting.

Who You Are

  • A manufacturing, process or NPI engineer with hands-on hardware experience taking products from prototype to volume.
  • Someone who turns design intent into documented, repeatable build and test processes.
  • Data-driven in debug, failure analysis and root cause, and you see each fix through to closure.
  • Comfortable building structure where it doesn't exist yet: clear ownership, phase gates and exit criteria.
  • A clear communicator who keeps internal teams and external CMs aligned on actions, risks and readiness.

What We Need

  • Help stand up and run the NPI site for EVT and DVT builds, proving builds and tests before they go to the CM.
  • Define and maintain process specs for assembly, integration, rework and test, and update them as volume grows.
  • Drive DFM, DFA and tolerance reviews early in design so issues are caught before they reach production.
  • Establish build readiness and phase exit criteria (EVT → DVT → PVT → MP), and own design transfer to CMs, including tooling, documentation and line readiness.
  • Lead failure analysis and RMA recovery for returned hardware, and feed the findings back into design and process.
  • Set process capability targets and track performance with SPC, DOE and yield data to stabilize launches and ramps.

What You Will Learn

  • How Tenstorrent moves advanced AI hardware from first build to scalable production across multiple contract manufacturers.
  • How to build an NPI and failure-analysis capability from the ground up.
  • How process specifications and capability practices evolve as a product moves from prototype to volume.
  • How to balance design intent, manufacturability, yield, and schedule across NPI phases while working with global partners on pilot builds, ramp, and continuous improvement.

Tenstorrent offers a highly competitive compensation package and benefits, and we are an equal opportunity employer.

This offer of employment is contingent upon the applicant being eligible to access U.S. export-controlled technology.  Due to U.S. export laws, including those codified in the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the Company is required to ensure compliance with these laws when transferring technology to nationals of certain countries (such as EAR Country Groups D:1, E1, and E2).   These requirements apply to persons located in the U.S. and all countries outside the U.S.  As the position offered will have direct and/or indirect access to information, systems, or technologies subject to these laws, the offer may be contingent upon your citizenship/permanent residency status or ability to obtain prior license approval from the U.S. Commerce Department or applicable federal agency.  If employment is not possible due to U.S. export laws, any offer of employment will be rescinded.
