Women's Designer
Ten Thousand is seeking a visionary Women’s Designer to own the design and development of our new women’s line. Collaborating very closely with women’s merchandising, you will be responsible for the creative direction, design and execution of all new products to ensure they align with our brand ethos and push the boundaries of performance activewear. This role offers a rare opportunity to shape an emerging category within the brand, bringing a fresh perspective to performance-driven women’s activewear. Working closely with product development, technical design, and production, you will ensure each product upholds Ten Thousand’s uncompromising standards of innovation, quality, and function.
We are looking for a strategic thinker and hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses a deep understanding of performance apparel. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in women’s activewear or technical apparel, an expert-level knowledge of design and construction, and the ability to create a vision for the design language for Ten Thousand Women’s. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the Women’s seasonal design strategy, driving creative direction, trend analysis, and innovation within the space.
- Own design execution from ideation to final product, ensuring excellence in fit, function, and aesthetics.
- Translate merchandising product briefs, market insights, athlete feedback, and trend research into cutting-edge designs.
- Drive material and color development, working with suppliers and internal teams to source, test, and integrate best-in-class fabrics and trims.
- Create and refine detailed technical sketches, CADs, and tech packs for seamless handoff to product development.
- Manage fittings and prototype reviews, collaborating with technical design and product development to fine-tune construction and performance.
- Ensure effective communication across departments, aligning design intent with merchandising strategy and product development timelines.
- Oversee and maintain design documentation, including seasonal line sheets, BOMs, and approvals for lab dips, strike-offs, and samples.
- Ensure alignment with the Design Director’s vision for brand aesthetics and performance standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 6+ years of experience in women’s apparel design, with activewear experience strongly appreciated.
- Demonstrated expertise in garment construction, fabric development, and technical design.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator. Experience in 3D design software (CLO, Browzwear, or equivalent) is a plus.
- Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to balance creative and commercial objectives.
- Deep knowledge of trends both within the activewear space and premium fashion
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working cross-functionally to bring designs to market.
