POSITION SUMMARY

The Illinois Purchaser at Terrabis is responsible for sourcing and procurement of products aiming to grow revenue and profitability within the Illinois market. This role is critical for building and maintaining strong relationships with vendors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate and execute timely ordering and distribution of all products for all IL retail locations.
  • Drive store level maximum profitability through vendor price negotiation.
  • Evaluate opportunity, assess risk, and onboard new vendors/products/brands in alignment with company goals.
  • Utilize inventory assessment tools, market trend reports, and sales data to ensure the appropriate product mix and par levels are maintained and distributed accurately across all IL retail locations.
  • Assist with defective product reconciliation with vendors.
  • Monitor and evaluate product mix on a brand and SKU level and recommend items to discontinue based on sales trends and inventory data.
  • Work closely with Inventory Management team to gain store-level insights on product performance
  • Coordinate with Marketing to ensure appropriate planning for upcoming promotions
  • Minimize aging inventory occurrences with collaboration from the data team.
  • Establish, maintain, and assess inventory turn KPIs as well as other KPI's for each location using history, sales plans, vendor criteria, and market trends.
  • Ensure compliance with all state regulations and laws regarding packaging and shipping.
  • Conduct market research to identify industry trends, independently and alongside our data team.
  • Ensure product deliveries are received and managed appropriately according to company procedure.
  • Develop strategic long-term procurement plans by analyzing market trends, customer preferences, and demand patterns to ensure the business stays competitive and anticipates future needs.
  • Demonstrate strong negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing, terms, and product availability from vendors, maintaining a balance between quality and cost-efficiency.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure optimal partnership performance, including contract management, delivery schedules, and regular evaluation of supplier performance to meet company goals and compliance standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred but not required.
  • Proven strong negotiation skills, with the ability to secure favorable terms, pricing, and contracts with vendors while maintaining positive relationships.
  • Strong cannabis product knowledge, market trends, and consumer insights.
  • 2+ years experience in purchasing for a dispensary, preferably in IL.
  • Must be proactive with strong work ethic, attention to detail, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Inventory control and procurement experience required.
  • Able to meet timelines consistently and able to effectively work under
  • Headset, BDSA, METRC, and or Leaflogix/Dutchie experience a
  • Strong analytic and data driven decision making skills.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment and computer software including word processing, database management, spreadsheet applications, and email.

Illinois Pay Range

$70,000 - $85,000 USD
