Summary
Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Software Quality Assurance Engineer to join our growing team. Reporting to the Director, Program Engineering, the Software Quality Assurance Engineer will join a collaborative Flight Software team to help deliver software to innovative micro and nano-satellite vehicle solutions for multiple projects.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Create the test plans for thorough, consistent, and independent evaluation of the software.
- Integrate and test software in simulation, flight replica, flight vehicle, and hardware-in-the-loop environments.
- Create automated flashing and testing on physical devices wherever possible.
- Contribute to proper documentation of testing procedures.
- Create bug tickets or release tickets for proper tracking.
- Contribute to SW Verification artifacts.
- Work directly with software, firmware, and FPGA engineers, as well as coordinate releases with the Configuration Management team.
- Track performance metrics to facilitate Continuous Improvements.
- Understand the varied conditions required for installing embedded and non-embedded toolchains from various open and closed-source vendors, resolving tool chain conflicts, and ensuring the correct toolchain is selected for various builds.
- Automate the testing process wherever possible.
- Maintain and enhance software build systems (GitHub).
- Incorporate DevSecOps mentality into build systems to eliminate or mitigate SW risk.
Qualifications and Skills
- U.S. in computer science or equivalent field.
- 2+ years of experience testing C/C++ applications for embedded, high-performance, or critical systems.
- Highly motivated, self-starting, responsible, thorough, and able to perform duties autonomously with minimal supervision.
- Experience conducting internal software quality audits and external reporting and presentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Differentiators
- Experience with virtualization platforms such as Virtualbox, VMWare, Docker, Hyper-V, Vagrant, and similar.
- Experience with Linux and GNU tools such as make, gcc, and debuggers such as gdb.
- Experience with C++ build systems such as CMake, Makefile, Autoconf, and similar.
- Experience with vulnerability tools (cppcheck/dependencytrack/codeQL/jfrog).
- Experience with building code for a diverse array of different embedded processors and platforms ranging from small microcontrollers to multicore 64-bit ARM processors with attached programmable logic.
- Experience with scripting languages such as bash and Python.
- Experience leading a small team of software engineers.
Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience. $85,000 - $125,000 USD
