Project Geologist
Description
We are seeking a motivated Project or Senior Project Geologist to join our growing Princeton, NJ office. The ideal candidate will have experience managing and executing environmental investigation and remediation projects in New Jersey, along with a strong working knowledge of NJDEP regulations and guidance. This role offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic, collaborative team on technically challenging and rewarding projects.
The Role
· Evaluate site characterization data to define contaminant distribution, assess potential risks, and develop practical remedial approaches.
· Conduct and oversee field investigations including soil, groundwater, and vapor sampling, drilling oversight, and contractor management.
· Collaborate with project managers and technical staff to plan investigations, prepare scopes of work and budgets, and support proposal development.
· Manage data compilation and interpretation using spreadsheets, databases, and GIS tools.
· Prepare clear, technically accurate reports, figures, and other deliverables.
· Contribute to proposal preparation, project scoping, and budget tracking.
· Perform quality assurance/quality control reviews of technical documents.
· Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality, on-time work products and ensure client satisfaction.
Who You Are
· Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
· Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience working on environmental projects in New Jersey.
· Extensive knowledge of NJDEP guidance, rules, and regulations.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience in technical writing and client correspondence.
· Experience with due diligence assessments (Phase I ESAs, NJ Preliminary Assessment Reports) strongly preferred.
· LSRP license is a plus, but not required.
· Proficiency with GIS and/or environmental data management tools is desirable.

Senior Hydrogeologist
Description
Terraphase is seeking a Principal Hydrogeologist, Geologist, or Groundwater Geologist. The desired individual can provide strategic and technical support on client projects and effectively lead business development efforts within the firm’s growing water resources, environmental investigation/remediation, and litigation support service areas. The role entails significant responsibilities for client engagement, project management, and staff development. Projects will commonly involve multidisciplinary engagements where effective collaboration and communication with a team of consulting scientists and engineers will be expected.
The Role
Be involved in projects with our Environmental, Geotechnical, and Hydrogeology Teams and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients’ objectives and solves their challenges.
Familiar with the drilling, design, construction, testing, evaluation, and rehabilitation of large capacity water supply wells.
Develop and apply analytical, analytic elements, and numerical groundwater models to support contaminated site investigations and water resource projects.
Analysis and interpretation of well testing data, model results, geophysical data, and hydrogeological data and preparation of plots and reports
Providing technical support for well drilling, wellhead protection, water rights, geologic and hydrogeologic investigations, hydrogeologic testing, geologic and hydrogeologic visualization, analytical and numerical groundwater flow modeling, contaminated sites investigations, and development of conceptual site models
Planning and managing projects and participating in client and regulatory meetings
Lead business development activities, including client contact/presentations, proposal writing, and professional society participation
Serving as an internal technical resource to provide guidance/review to help ensure technical quality within Terraphase as well as mentoring to junior level staff.
Who You Are
Hold an advanced degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Licensed Hydrogeologist (LHG) in the state of Washington.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in hydrogeology consulting or a related field.
Familiarity with Washington State geology, hydrogeology, and environmental regulations and permitting processes.
Experienced with industry-standard numerical modelling packages and analytical codes.
Strong reputation among clients and peers for creativity, integrity, responsiveness, and technical expertise
Well-versed with typical production well drilling techniques
Skilled with the installation and operation of groundwater monitoring instrumentation
Strong technical skills in modelling analysis
Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills
Experience leading project teams and supervising the work of others.
Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
Ability to work effectively as a part of a team as well as independently.
Hazardous Building Materials Practice Lead
Description

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in managing complex environmental projects and navigating regulatory requirements.
The Role
Provide strategic leadership and technical expertise in hazardous materials management to support client objectives and regulatory compliance.
Develop and implement innovative solutions and best practices for the safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
Lead multidisciplinary teams in conducting comprehensive assessments and risk analyses of client facilities and operations.
Oversee the preparation of technical reports, environmental impact assessments, and regulatory submissions related to hazardous materials management.
Serve as a trusted advisor on emerging trends, regulations, and technologies.
Mentor and coach junior staff members, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and professional development.
Drive business development initiatives, including proposal development, client presentations, and relationship management.
Who You Are
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 15-20 years of progressive experience in environmental consulting, with a focus on hazardous materials management and regulatory compliance.
Professional certifications such as Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC), or equivalent.
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) credential preferred.
