Principal Engineer, Regulatory Construction Oversight
TerraPower is seeking a highly motivated Construction Oversight Engineer to be a part of the Natrium® Regulatory Construction Oversight team. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Regulatory Construction Oversight and supports the Natrium advanced reactor project by conducting technical inspections related to the construction of Kemmerer Unit 1 and other Natrium units. This position also performs quality assurance and supplier oversight functions and leads scheduling activities to ensure effective execution of Regulatory Construction Oversight priorities. Work will be conducted in close consultation with staff from TerraPower’s Quality Assurance, Procurement, Fabrication, and Construction organizations.
Responsibilities
- Develop procedures for regulatory oversight necessary to support the Kemmerer Unit 1 project and other Natrium units
- Provide inspection oversight of the construction of Natrium unit(s), leveraging in-depth knowledge of U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations and inspection procedures
- Review USO and TerraPower quality assurance programs to ensure they continue to meet all applicable requirements and commitments
- Conduct oversight of suppliers to ensure readiness for NRC inspections
- Independently identify issues of concern, proactively communicate with other team members across the organization, as well as management within the Regulatory Construction Oversight organization, and recommend regulatory paths to resolve the issues of concern
- Serve as the lead scheduler for oversight and inspection activities conducted by the Regulatory Construction Oversight organization
- Track and analyze trends, recommending necessary actions to Regulatory Construction Oversight management
Key Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited, four-year university or equivalent experience
- 15+ years of combined experience in nuclear regulatory compliance, including 10 CFR regulations and guidance and NRC reactor inspections for operating and/or construction projects.
- Capability and willingness to adhere to strict quality assurance standards
- Self-starter with ability to manage deadlines
- Strong communication skills·The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly, and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork
- Actual position starting level and title will be determined based on assessment of qualifications

Salary Range Level 12: $168,316 - $252,475
Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience. This range is specific to Washington State.
