Director of Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting

This is a senior-level finance leader responsible for managing financial reporting functions across multiple business units within a diverse organization. This position provides leadership and technical accounting expertise in the financial reporting function of the Company. The role ensures accurate financial statements, maintains internal controls, and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide primary support on all technical accounting matters including technical accounting memos and white paper authoring.
  • Provides accounting guidance related to proposed transactions to ensure conformity with GAAP and company policies and procedures.
  • Provide strategic leadership on all technical accounting matters on a global scale.
  • Serve as a technical accounting resource and guide the organization through complex accounting issues.
  • Provide training and ongoing US GAAP support to the Controller’s organization on all technical accounting matters.
  • Drive all Financial Reporting aspects of the processes, assess, implement, and maintain technical accounting policies.
  • Collaborate with Operations, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Legal departments to ensure alignment and accurate reporting.
  • Communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Oversee the quarterly and annual financial reporting and disclosures, ensure statements are in compliance with US GAAP and regulations.
  • Spearhead research initiatives to stay abreast of U.S. GAAP, global accounting trends and regulatory changes.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and uphold the highest standards of financial integrity.
  • Ensure all reporting requirements are met and that all significant accounting matters are appropriately evaluated as part of the financial reporting process.
  • Prepare and present reporting packages to executive leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in reporting and accounting operations.
  • Coordinate and manage external audits, including preparing supporting documentation and addressing auditor inquiries. Be the point person for complex accounting matters.
  • Spearhead special projects as required by executive management such as, but not limited to, automation around accounting processes and financial reporting, due diligence, Sox testing, and continuous process improvements.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • CPA certification is required.
  • 12+ years of accounting experience, including significant roles in BIG 4 and public companies.
  • A leadership role overseeing accounting in a multi-business segment environment
  • Experience with complex global consolidations, intercompany accounting, and reporting across different industries or sectors.
  • Prior experience with ERP systems (Oracle Cloud) and financial reporting tools.
  • Technical proficiency in ASC 730, ASC 360, ASC 606, ASC 842 and other complex accounting transactions
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with ability to instill confidence and trust
  • Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP and SEC regulations is required
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and superior organization skills is required.
  • Experience with MD&A, SEC filing

Job details

Salary Range: $196,537 - $294,806

 

* We typically place offers in the lower to middle portion of the range to maintain internal equity and allow room for growth. Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected individual’s qualifications experience.  This range is specific to Washington State.
