Senior Director, Supply Chain & External Manufacturing

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Director of Supply Chain and External Manufacturing to join our CMC group at Tessera Therapeutics. This position will offer an exciting opportunity to build and manage the overall supply chain and external manufacturing function. We are searching for a driven, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individual who is comfortable multitasking and working independently on various aspects of the platform. This individual will join a dynamic, rapidly growing, and highly collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with CMC stakeholders, including Process Development, GMP Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Legal, Procurement, Finance and other key stakeholders to understand and satisfy critical non-GMP and GMP supply requirements to support Tessera’s portfolio
  • Design, build, and implement supply chain and external manufacturing network strategies that ensure timely growth of capabilities and continuous supply of critical materials
  • Establish phase appropriate clinical supply chain capabilities involving:
    • Supply Chain Planning & Strategy
    • Transportation Management
    • Traceability, Artwork, and Labeling
    • Supply Chain Systems (ERP, Analytics, & Reporting)
  • Establish external manufacturing capabilities including:
    • External manufacturing strategy via an assessment of internal/external capabilities
    • Strategic sourcing process including RFI, RFPs, contracting and relationship management
    • Financial efficiencies and phase appropriateness
  • Build and mentor an interdisciplinary Supply Chain and External Manufacturing team of operations professionals
  • Drive identification, contracting, relationship management, and performance of critical GMP supply chain and CMO partners
  • Directly engage and establish relationships with external manufacturing organizations and their leadership to ensure ongoing success of key project and smooth issue resolution
  • Establish and lead cross-functional teams responsible for ensuring successful project execution with CMO partners
  • Engage in portfolio and program planning to ensure processes and capabilities are established to meeting company needs and that critical materials are delivered on time
  • Provide the financial oversight and lead/support overall business improvement opportunities with External Parties
  • Responsible for supply chain and external manufacturing budgeting and for providing strategic input into long-range planning processes

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering or Life Science Discipline with 17 years related experience or Masters with 15 years related experience or PhD with 12 years of related experience
  • Proven leader in all areas of Supply Chain and CMO relationship management in a GMP context
  • Broad experience in supply chain processes, methodologies, and technologies
  • Experience and ability to draft, revise, review, and negotiate complex CMO contract terms
  • Experience with long-range planning processes and providing input on business strategy
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budget and P&L
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability for strategic thinking in a complex business environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in clinical supply chain management, project management
  • Knowledge of gene therapy regulatory guidance
  • Experience working in a gene therapy supply chain role or with gene therapy modalities
  • Experience building clinical supply chain capabilities in US and EU

Compensation: 

The stated base salary range represents Tessera’s good-faith estimate for this role. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors, including but not limited to individual qualifications, years of relevant experience, internal compensation alignment, and external market data.

This position is also eligible for an annual incentive bonus and equity grants as part of Tessera’s total rewards program.

Per Year Salary Range: $204,000 - $265,000 USD
