Co-op, Drug Product Group and Analytical Development
Tessera Fall Co-op Program: Designed for students as an alternate academic study in their Bachelors or Masters Eligible students would be those attending schools with an established co-op program for academic credit.
Duration: June 23rd – December (6 month program) or February (8 month program) || Monday – Friday, 35-40 hrs/week
- Hands-on Experience: Co-op participants will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on innovative projects at the forefront of biotechnology.
- Coffee Chats with Leadership: Regular informal sessions will be arranged where students can engage in candid conversations with Tessera Therapeutics' leadership team. These sessions offer a unique opportunity to gain insights into leadership styles, career paths, and industry trends.
- Career Development Workshops: Throughout the program, participants will have access to a series of workshops focused on enhancing key professional skills such as drafting a resume and interviewing.
- Student Outings and Activities: To foster a sense of camaraderie and community among participants, Tessera Therapeutics will organize various outings and activities.
- Student Presentation: Opportunity to present accomplishments at the end of the co-op program to the entire organization.

Position Responsibilities:
- Learning and gaining experience with fundamental lab skills such as pipetting, instrument operation and troubleshooting, buffer and reagent preparation, sample aliquoting and inventory management, data compiling, data analysis and interpretation, good documentation practices.
- Supporting analytical assays and assay development, including but not limited to: HPLC and CE based, and UV-Vis.
- Assisting with day-to-day activities in the lab and gaining experience as a good lab citizen, i.e. lab upkeep and organization.
- Working closely with a team of scientists to develop novel and efficient assays as well as to support and execute routine sample testing
- Effectively collaborating within the analytical team and with other functional teams
- Learning about the biotech industry, Tessera as a company, Analytical Development and other departments
- Additional duties and responsibilities as required
- Adhering to all laboratory safety requirements and procedures
Basic Qualifications:
- Working towards a BS, MS, or Ph.D. degree in Analytical Chemistry, or a related discipline (i.e. biotechnology, chemistry, chemical engineering) with, at least, two years of an undergraduate education completed within a related discipline.
- Hands-on experience with basic wet chemistry, sampling and testing organic or inorganic compounds, as well as other laboratory techniques. Familiarity with some of the following: different modes of HPLC/UPLC, and/or Capillary Electrophoresis (CE/CGE), DLS, particle analyzers for analysis of biopolymers and nanoparticles. LC-MS experience is a plus.
- Learning mindset with enthusiasm to participate in and contribute to daily lab activities and projects.
- Good communication skills and attention to details.
- Ability to work efficiently as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Position Summary:
Tessera is seeking a Coop to join the Analytical Development Team for routine assay support, development, and optimization. We are searching for a driven, detail-oriented, and self-motivated person who is comfortable multitasking and working in a team environment. This Coop role will gain industry experience and exposure while working with our novel gene writing technology. The position will provide exposure to basic laboratory skills and specialized instrumentation, as well as industry culture and concepts
