Typical Project Details:
- Project Focus: You will be a Quality Engineer focused on mobile and API test automation, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable testing solutions.
- Project Duration: Contracts usually range from 3 months to 1 year. Many projects extend beyond their initial term, and some evolve into ongoing contractor opportunities.
- Location: This job ad is open to candidates in any location who are comfortable working in a fully remote setup.
- Schedule: Opportunities are available for both part-time and full-time contracts. Working hours generally follow day or afternoon schedules based on your regional time zone.
- Timezone: While we support flexible work, most roles align with standard daytime hours in their region (e.g., 9 AM–6 PM). For instance, this may mean Central Standard Time (CST) in the Americas or Central European Time (CET) in EMEA. Please ensure your availability aligns with your region’s core hours.
- Required Devices: You must have access to an Android or iOS mobile device for testing.
What Your Day Looks Like
- Ensure the quality and timely delivery of automated scripts for mobile automation testing.
- Write automation testing scripts for UI, back-end, and API testing.
- Work closely with stakeholders to understand test automation priorities and estimate script creation hours.
- Contribute to the pull request (PR) review process alongside the Quality Engineering Manager.
- Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data.
- Challenge, recommend, and collaborate with internal teams to drive strategic automated testing solutions.
- Work closely with the Quality Engineering team and cross-functional departments to continuously improve the customer experience.
- Build, enhance, and manage the client’s test automation capabilities.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
Technical Skills:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in software quality assurance or technology consulting, with a focus on test automation strategy and execution.
- Strong experience in test automation development for web, mobile, backend, or cross-platform applications.
- Hands-on experience writing test scripts in one or more of the following:
- JavaScript / TypeScript, Java, Python, Ruby, Swift, Kotlin, C#, or Shell scripting
- Demonstrated experience with automation frameworks, such as:
- Mobile: Appium, Espresso (Android), XCUITest (Xcode/iOS), Detox
- Web: WebdriverIO, Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Puppeteer
- Cross-platform/general: Robot Framework
- Strong understanding of API testing concepts, and experience using tools such as Postman, REST Assured, Supertest, or similar.
- Exposure to continuous integration tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or CircleCI.
- Familiarity with containerization or virtual test environments such as Docker or TestContainers.
- Knowledge of structured test design techniques such as BDD, TDD, or data-driven testing.
- Familiarity with test management and reporting tools like Allure, TestRail, or Xray.
- Experience with cloud-based testing platforms such as Sauce Labs, BrowserStack, Kobiton, LambdaTest, or similar device farms.
Human Skills:
- Effective English communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment.
- Drive to learn quickly and continuously expand knowledge.
- Comfortable with a frequently changing environment and able to adapt fast.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
