About Thalamus

Our mission is to help the right doctors practice at the right hospitals to treat the right patients. We leverage a passion for technology, medical education, equity, and data-driven research to optimize physician recruitment, starting with the medical residency recruitment process.

Our philosophy is that the opportunity to practice medicine in an ideal environment should be accessible to all, and ample medical research has shown that this results in patients getting better healthcare outcomes overall. We built a comprehensive interview management platform, backed by evidence-based research, to innovate, streamline, and optimize the residency recruitment process.

As the Director of Product Management at Thalamus, you will help guide product strategy and execution for our expansion into the physician recruitment space. Initially reporting directly to the CEO/Interim Head of Product (and eventually CPTO), you will oversee a team of product managers and collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders in engineering, design, marketing, sales, and customer experience to drive innovation and deliver impactful solutions.

This role is a unique opportunity to shape the future of physician recruitment by building intuitive, data-driven products that solve complex challenges for physicians and health systems, downstream from Thalamus’s current market in graduate medical education, program directors, coordinators, applicants, and institutional leaders. You will develop and execute a forward-thinking product roadmap, informed by market insights, user feedback, and emerging technologies, including AI and data analytics.

At Thalamus, we value collaborative leadership, bold thinking, and a commitment to our mission of ensuring the right doctor ends up at the right hospital to treat the right patients. If you are passionate about driving product excellence, leading high-performing teams, and making a meaningful impact in healthcare, we invite you to join us on our journey to "Connect the Docs."

  • Form strong cross-functional partnerships with engineering, design, sales, marketing, and customer experience teams to align on product goals.
  • Drive metrics definition, implementation, and operationalization for respective product areas, modeling this discipline for Thalamus as a whole
  • Drive product innovation by identifying new market opportunities and ensuring continuous improvement in product offerings.
  • Present product strategy, progress, and outcomes to executive leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Find a balance between moving extremely quickly while still facilitating effective collaboration across the business, both within other cross-functional product teams and the broader business
  • Focus relentlessly on refining your understanding of business and customer needs, from which you will build a growth strategy that fits within our broader mission, vision, and market
  • Drive and own business outcomes with a robust product strategy that is aligned with business goals and is supported by product discovery, market research, customer research, and competitor research

You should have…

  • At least 8 years of prior experience in product management, with at least 3 years managing product teams, preferably driving Growth or Engagement for a B2B SAAS product or a monetized consumer product.
  • Demonstrated success in building and scaling products in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior 0-to-1 product development for a new product area.
Background in utilizing data and analytics to make product decisions.
  • Experience working in a scrappy startup environment with a strong bias for action.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills with a propensity for clear, structured thinking and the ability to influence stakeholders.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
