Strategy Director (3 Months FTC)

THE ROLE 

 

At That Lot, the Strategy Director is responsible for overseeing the Strategy & Activation function. They oversee a team of talented Strategists, Paid Specialists and Analysts, with teams members from each of these disciplines reporting into them.   

You will have a desire to act as well as advise, always with effectiveness in mind.   

As the senior point of contact, the Strategy Director maintains excellent relationships with senior clients and partners in a consultancy capacity, handling strategic counsel and advising teams on strategic direction to encourage account growth and success within the business.   

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

Senior Counsel:  

  • Expert senior strategic leader on projects and within the department. Able to lead integrated teams to create and implement best-in-class, social-first strategic plans that inspire and energise our teams and clients.   
  • Gatekeeper for the creation of high quality, data-driven insights and concepts that identify unique and culturally-relevant opportunities.  
  • Holds the role of trusted client advisor, able to provide informed recommendations and counsel.  
  • Upholds and articulates industry point of view, sharing best practice, case studies and thought leadership both internally and externally. Participates in and seeks out internal and external visibility, speaking engagements and media coverage.  
  • Works with the analytics and paid leads to deliver impact and effectiveness for our clients, acting as a gatekeeper to ensure strategies deliver ROI against business objectives.  

 

New Business:  

  • Leads new business pitches, integrating across teams and weaving the strategic vision throughout the process.  
  • Plays a primary role in seeking out new client opportunities and responding to RFPs.  
  • Responsible for identifying opportunities to expand client engagements in partnership with client and creative leads. 
  • Partners closely with the client service and creative teams to take proactive opportunities to our clients.   

 

Team Management:  

  • Works with the senior team to evaluate incoming requests and assign work to the most suited team members appropriately.  
  • Oversees workload, provides direction, and delegates tasks, keeping the team accountable to performance and quality on projects.  
  • Oversees the progression and development of the team, with direct line management responsibility for senior team members.  
  • Financial accountability of the department, including regular forecasting, drafting, and reviewing of scopes, as well as tracking against targets.  

 

SKILLS REQUIRED 

 

  • A strategic creative and analytical thinker who is able to unpick the complex and write inspiring and digestible plans.  
  • Deep and professional experience and understanding of the social, media and advertising industries and a finger on the pulse when it comes to social innovations – you’re excited by the potential of social and have a desire to be first to market and get that first mover advantage.    
  • Extensive experience of best-in-class delivery of small to large scale campaigns and content plans, from brand building to sales driving activity. 
  • To be an excellent written and oral communicator (an ability to present creative ideas and strategies both for existing clients and new business is imperative).  
  • Ability to proactively identify growth opportunities and plan strategically, as well as effectively communicating opportunities with leadership.  
  • Extensive experience of the new business process, including leading high value pitches. 
  • Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate and educate large teams.  
  • Exceptional attention to creative but also financial details. 
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at once, negotiating conflicting deadlines and requirements to deliver work on time and on budget.
