We are seeking a Lead Concept Artist with a passion for bringing life to grounded worlds that creates immersive game experience and tells evocative stories. Working in a collaborative team with story, art direction and gameplay you will have the chance to define a new benchmark for visual excellence in games. Working with the Studio Art Director and your team you will be responsible for researching and crafting a wide range of environmental visual development from reference and mood boards to sketches and final concept art. With your help we will push the industry to new heights of realism, beauty, gameplay, and storytelling!
Responsibilities:
- Work with the Studio Art Director, Environment Team and Narrative Team to research, collect, and organize reference and inspirational material.
- Inspire the studio with sketches, color roughs, mood paintings or final concepts to drive the project’s artistic vision.
- Direct and provide feedback for internal and external artists for all environmental concept art.
- Create and direct paint-overs to ensure architectural, natural, color, lighting, and design authenticity.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across all teams to assess and deliver on the conceptual needs, schedule, and dependencies.
- Manage your team of artists to promote their morale, cohesion, career paths and artistic development.
- Ensure deliverables are completed to the target quality in a timely manner.
Requirements & Skills:
- 5+ years of professional games or film concept design.
- Worked on a AAA 3D game as a senior or lead artist.
- Outstanding portfolio demonstrating the ability to create stunning and visceral worlds using a wide variety of techniques.
- Strong drawing and painting fundamentals.
- Outstanding grasp of traditional art theory including composition, lighting, color, value, and shape language.
- Innate ability to observe, research, and analyze subject matters and apply those principles to your designs.
- Experience executing on grounded natural settings, geological features, and diverse biomes.
- Strong understanding of contemporary and historical architecture with a passion for making grounded designs.
- Professional experience with Photoshop and 3D tools for sketching, painting, photo bashing, lighting, layout and designing.
- (Bonus) Education in architecture, industrial design, or related fields.
- (Bonus) Experience with 3D programs such as Unreal Editor, Maya, ZBrush, Blender, Substance Painter etc.
- (Bonus) Knowledge, experience, or interest in using photos, scans, and 3D assets in the creation of concept art.
- (Bonus) Experience working with game engines to manipulate layout, lighting, render passes and LUTS.

TNM considers a number of factors when determining each role's base pay range, including industry benchmarks, location, experience, and other job specific skills. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for other incentive compensation including equity and profit share. The estimated base pay range for this role is U.S. only and not applicable for locations outside of the U.S.
The estimated base pay range for this role is: $155k - $183k
