Lead Producer, Design
That's No Moon is an independent studio of storytellers and game-makers who believe in the power of narrative-driven experiences. With a diverse team of talented developers, from some of the top game studios in the world (Naughty Dog, Infinity Ward, Bungie), our shared vision is to create the future of AAA experiences with a culture of creativity, collaboration, and responsible production practices. Our passionate team of developers help shape our studio, our projects, and our future.
We are seeking a Lead Producer to join our Design department and play a critical role in managing the production processes that support the creative and technical execution of the game’s vision. You’ll work hand-in-hand with Design leadership to drive a world-class player experience, ensuring that the design team has the clarity, structure, and support needed to deliver on a AAA action-adventure title.
Your ultimate strengths are a mix of hard project management and soft people skills used to empower Design to do their best work within a clear framework of scope, quality, and schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Design Directors, Leads, and Designers to drive planning and decision-making that supports design priorities and maintains the creative vision of the game.
- Be a motivating and adaptable facilitator for the Design team, ensuring healthy collaboration across departments and creating an inclusive, empowered culture.
- Own and manage the development schedules for mission design, level design, and feature design from pre-production through final delivery.
- Validate schedules and deliverables against overall game goals, ensuring design initiatives are realistic, achievable, and well-integrated with the broader production plan.
- Help improve and evolve the department's workflows and communication structures, identifying production process enhancements that strengthen the design team's efficiency and creative iteration.
- Identify risks early in the design production cycle, propose mitigation strategies, and escalate when needed.
- Track design deliverables through Jira, Shotgun/ShotGrid, and other tools, using data to inform progress reports and decision-making.
- Regularly provide executive summaries and production reports on design progress to leadership.
- Mentor and support producers embedded within Design, fostering their professional growth.
- Champion a balance between structure and creative freedom—allowing room for iteration while still keeping the team aligned to project goals.
Requirements & Skills:
- Deep understanding of AAA game development pipelines, especially with action-adventure or narrative-driven titles.
- Strong familiarity with mission design, systems design, and level design workflows.
- Hands-on experience with production tools such as Jira, Shotgun/ShotGrid, and Perforce.
- Ability to interpret creative goals and translate them into clear, actionable production plans.
- Skilled at working within highly iterative and creative environments.
- Strong analytical thinking and ability to leverage data in production decision-making. (Preferred)
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple complex priorities.
- Adaptive leadership style, with the ability to shift between formal and informal management approaches.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- High emotional intelligence and a servant-leader mindset that prioritizes the success of the team.
Qualifications:
- At least 8+ years of experience as a Producer (or equivalent) in AAA game development.
- Prior experience working closely with Design teams on complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
- Background or education in Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field. (Preferred)
- High attention to detail, timely follow-up, and proactive risk management skills.
- Experience shipping at least one AAA title from pre-production to launch. (Preferred)
