Project Manager / Structured Cabling Designer
Position Description:
The Project Manager / Structured Cabling Engineer will be responsible for overseeing structured cabling projects from inception to completion. This role requires a blend of project management skills and technical expertise in structured cabling systems.
Responsibilities:
Project Management:
- Lead and manage structured cabling projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of clients.
- Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, and track progress against milestones.
- Coordinate with internal teams, external vendors, and subcontractors to ensure project deliverables are met.
- Proactively identify and mitigate project risks and issues.
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders to provide updates on project status and address any concerns.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding structured cabling projects.
- Manage client expectations and provide exceptional customer service throughout the project lifecycle.
Structured Cabling Engineering:
- Understand client requirements and objectives and translate them into actionable project plans.
- Design and develop structured cabling packages in accordance with industry standards and client requirements.
- Produce detailed design documents, including space requirements, system architecture, and construction drawings.
- Collaborate with internal technology staff and vendors to integrate structured cabling systems with other building technologies.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends related to structured cabling systems.
- Ensure that all structured cabling installations meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Skills & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Project management certification preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in project management and structured cabling engineering.
- Strong understanding of structured cabling systems, industry standards (e.g., BICSI, NEC, EIA/TIA), and building codes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects from initiation to closure.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and adapt to changing project requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
