Job Description

The Daily Beast is seeking a creative and deadline-driven Video Editor to join our newsroom team in New York City. This role will support our growing editorial, audio, and social teams by producing high-quality, engaging video content that supports our journalism across platforms.

The ideal candidate is a versatile editor with experience in both podcast editing and video production, a keen sense of editorial judgment, and a strong understanding of social and YouTube-first storytelling. This role requires someone who thrives under tight deadlines and has a deep interest in news and current events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit and deliver weekly episodes of The Daily Beast podcast and The Last Laugh podcast focusing on clean video edits and rich audio equalization and mix
  • Edit multiple vertical social video assets cut from podcasts. Skilled at applying text on screen, branding graphics, transitions, and music 
  • Deliver short-form video content tied to Daily Beast articles for on-site publishing and social distribution
  • Collaborate closely with reporters, editors, and the social team to pitch and execute video content that enhances storytelling
  • Organize and manage media assets, maintain clear workflows, and ensure timely delivery of all edits
  • Update production calendars with latest information regarding projects and company needs
  • Stay up to date on news cycles and trending topics to help identify timely opportunities for editorial video
  • Meet tight deadlines in a high-pressure newsroom environment while maintaining creative standards
  • Entry level understanding of motion graphics, audio equalization and mixing best practices
  • Interest in script writing, SEO best practices, digital publication optimization, and developing keen editorial judgement
  • This role is in-office 4 days per week at The Daily Beast HQ in NYC 

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of experience in video editing, ideally within a newsroom or digital media environment
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro (After Effects a plus)
  • Must have experience using Riverside for remote podcast and video production
  • Strong sense of visual storytelling, pacing, and editorial standards
  • Demonstrated experience editing for YouTube and social media platforms
  • Podcast editing experience preferred (audio + video)
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and meet fast turnaround times
  • A self-starter with strong communication skills and collaborative energy

Pay Range Salary

The pay range for this full-time position is $65,000-80,000. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and other factors. The Daily Beast is a globally recognized publication at IAC (NASDAQ: IAC) with our headquarters in New York City.
