Position Overview
DCG is seeking a motivated, collaborative and highly organized Communications Project Manager to lead our team on behalf of our federal client at the Department of Veteran’s Affairs (VA). The project’s mission supports efforts aligned to human capital management strategies, policies, and practices that cultivate an engaged, proficient, and diverse workforce to transform and continually improve services to Veterans and their families. In this role, your reach touches every member of the 450,000 VA workforce: from hire to retire.
Location
Fully Remote; the selected candidate will work during DCG’s core Eastern Standard Time business hours.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic communication plans in line with the client’s goals and objectives, providing value-add initiatives and generating new ideas.
- Establish positive relationships with the client and associated stakeholders.
- Directly manage team members, overseeing their quality of work and contributing to their professional growth and development via coaching and mentoring as well as participating in mid-year and annual performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with other client team members, partners, and internal support such as graphic design.
- Serve as an ambassador for DCG and provide a connection for the team back to the DCG culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of professional experience
- 8+ years of public relations and communications experience to include leading projects, supporting, and managing federal programs
- Proven project management skills, an eagerness to work in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to manage a diverse workload
- Ability to lead and direct federal projects to include strategic planning, overseeing delivery, client management, directing all communication, managing deliverable schedules, and more
- Strong writing skills with the ability to edit materials provided by others to ensure deliverables are client-ready
- Exceptional attention to detail and highly organized
- Proven ability to work with senior-level executives
- Experience providing internal communications with the Department of Veterans Affairs or other federal agencies strongly preferred
- Experience with knowledge management and change management initiatives strongly preferred
