Position Overview
DCG, on behalf of our partners at Arillic, is seeking a part-time Senior Policy Writer to develop communications tactics that advance healthcare policy-related issues on behalf of Federal clients and stakeholders. Outreach strategies and tactics may include journal commentaries, blogs, press releases, and other written materials that further the client’s priorities among a variety of audiences. The main focus of this position will be supporting the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).
Location
Fully Remote; the selected candidate will work during core Eastern Standard Time business hours.
Responsibilities
- Develop written products in various forms that translate scientific and/or policy information into plain language for various audiences.
- Analyze bodies of work, understand client needs, and develop appropriate communication-based recommendations to stakeholders.
- Leverage awareness of healthcare issues on a national scale and experience in communicating about them to various audiences.
- Develop and maintain client and stakeholder relationships through interpersonal skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 10+ years of progressive experience in healthcare policy-related writing
- Team player and a problem solver with a client service mindset who is able to meet deadlines and shift priorities as needed with minimal supervision
- Expert in journalism and communications best practices
- Excellent interview skills, expert-level writing, positioning, and attention to detail
- Speechwriting experience for healthcare executives
- Ability to write talking points, press releases, journal commentaries for executives
- Knowledge of the following: Zoom, and Microsoft platforms, such as Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
Desired Qualifications
- Master's Degree
- Technical savvy with specific experience in client management
- Experience with Federal contract work
- Experience within the healthcare industry
