Position Overview
DCG is seeking an experienced Digital and Social Media Specialist to provide communications support to the US Army's Office of the Chief of Public Affairs (OCPA). This position is critical to build awareness, increase followership, and strengthen engagement across the Army's social media platforms. To achieve this, the role requires a strong background in digital media and analytical skills with a knack for reaching diverse audiences. The ideal candidate will have the ability to develop, manage, and monitor digital and social media strategies and collateral while integrating social listening, providing media insights, and generating detailed reports to inform Army public affairs strategies.
Location
This position in on-site at the Pentagon, five days per week.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of social media accounts, including scheduling posts, responding to inquiries, and monitoring engagement
- Provide ongoing support for the Army's social media tools and solutions, serving as a liaison for related services
- Cultivate new communities, manage branded online communications, and plan and execute live events using Facebook and X
- Provide social media analysis including but not limited to tone, engagement, and demographic/ geographic reach
- Identify and recommend social media influencers aligned with Army objectives for specified topics and regions
- Develop strategic insights on the Army's engagement with key groups, including service members, Veterans, elected officials, and defense organizations
- Integrate social listening across OCPA initiatives to monitor trending conversations about the Army brand
- Monitor and report on relevant engagement KPIs across platforms
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Communication or related field
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience supporting communications and social media campaigns, preferably at a public relations firm or for a Government customer
- Experience with leading social media tools, including Talkwalker, Meltwater, Spredfast, Sprout Social, Falcon IO, Google Analytics, and related proficiency leveraging these platforms with sophisticated Boolean searches
- Proven ability to create and execute social media on behalf of a client, with an in-depth understanding of unique tone, engagement and demographic reach
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and provide timely information on strategic developments and, at times, breaking news
- Proficiency in MS Office programs and familiarity with content management systems
- Knowledge of military public affairs or similar high-stakes communication environments preferred
- Due to contractual stipulations, this position requires US Citizenship
