Position Overview
DCG is seeking Communications and Events Management Specialists to support strategic outreach and executive engagement activities for Navy Weeks and senior executive visits at various locations across the country. This role requires strong research, planning, and media relations skills to develop and execute comprehensive engagement strategies. Specialists will coordinate logistics, create executive materials, facilitate media opportunities, and ensure seamless execution of high-visibility events that enhance Navy public awareness and stakeholder engagement. This position will support and interface with Navy uniformed and civilian leaders in various locations for two days of high-level engagements with corporate and nonprofit executives, civic leaders, educators, and veterans groups that lay the groundwork for extensive Navy Week activities at those sites.
Note: This position is currently contingent on contract award
Location
Remote; the selected candidate will work during DCG’s core Eastern Standard Time business hours.
Responsibilities
- Research, plan, and coordinate executive engagements for Navy Weeks and senior executive visits
- Develop and brief detailed event schedules for senior executives
- Create comprehensive media engagement plans tailored to Navy Weeks and executive visits
- Prepare Navy Week and executive trip books for senior participants
- Provide on-site planning and logistical support during Navy Weeks and executive visits
- Pitch, coordinate, and facilitate media opportunities to maximize visibility and messaging
- Draft executive summaries and after-action reports to capture social and earned media summaries, outcomes, lessons learned, and recommendations
- Collaborate with internal teams, Navy leadership, and external stakeholders to ensure effective event execution
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
- Minimum of 4 years of professional communications experience
- Demonstrated experience in media relations, event planning, or executive engagement support
- Strong writing, research, and presentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines
- Willingness to travel up to 25% for Navy Weeks and executive visits
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with military or federal government communications
- Experience coordinating high-profile events or working with senior leaders
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and event planning tools
