Position Overview
DCG is seeking a Social Scientist to support consumer and regulatory research programs for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This position will contribute to the design, implementation, analysis, and reporting of qualitative and quantitative social science research projects focused on tobacco regulatory science and related public health topics.
The ideal candidate is an experienced research professional who can independently manage day-to-day research activities while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams and providing technical support across complex projects. This role requires strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, as well as the ability to support multiple concurrent research efforts in a fast-paced environment.
Location
Fully Remote; the selected candidate will work during DCG’s core Eastern Standard Time business hours. Note: This position is currently contingent on contract award.
Responsibilities
- Support and implement social science research tasks of moderate to high technical complexity
- Contribute to the planning, execution, and management of qualitative and quantitative research projects
- Conduct data analysis, interpretation, and synthesis of research findings using established research methodologies and analytical tools
- Prepare clear, accurate, and timely reports, presentations, and technical deliverables
- Collaborate with project leadership and multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality work products and smooth project execution
- Support study design and development activities, including research planning, instrument development, and methodological recommendations
- Apply established theories, concepts, and techniques to address research questions and support innovative approaches to regulatory science challenges
- Monitor project timelines and contribute to quality assurance and process improvement efforts
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience supporting social science research, public health research, regulatory science, or related fields
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required; Master’s degree preferred
- Specific experience supporting tobacco-related regulatory research
- Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research and data analysis
- Proficiency with statistical and qualitative analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R, NVivo, or similar platforms)
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional or multidisciplinary teams
- Active CITI Human Subjects Certification
