Vacation Replacement Cleaners will provide vacation coverage in our Midtown properties from approximately February 15 to December 31, 2025. Please note this position has a limited term of five months with the opportunity for long-term retention based on business needs and performance evaluation.
Candidate will create a positive experience by providing superior customer service to building tenants and guests. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to, ensuring that designated areas are always clean and well organized.
Pay Rate is $23.230 per hour. Additionally, this position will be eligible for overtime for all hours actually worked, consistent with the Local 32BJ Collective Bargaining Agreement. The overtime rate is $34.8540 per hour. Please note that wages are subject to tax withholdings and other applicable deductions.
Candidates must be flexible and able to work all the following shifts as needed:
7:00am - 4:00pm
8:00am - 5:00pm
9:00am - 6:00pm
5:00pm -12:30am
5:15pm - 12:45am
8:00pm - 4:00am
12:00am - 8:00am
Responsibilities
Light Duty Responsibilities:
- Empty wastebaskets by thoroughly damp wiping in/out. Collected rubbish must be placed in designated area for removal.
- Dust and wipe clean all furniture (vertical and horizontal surfaces), equipment, telephones, and windowsills.
- Dust baseboards, chair rails, picture frames, and doors within reach.
- Remove finger marks and smudges from all office entrance doors, light switches, door frames and all interior glass (except windows).
- Vacuum all carpeted areas, sweep and/or damp mop all hard floor surfaces nightly.
- Dust all doors and ventilating louvers within reach.
- Maintain janitor closet to standard level and ensure that all assigned equipment is clean.
- Turn off all lights and secure all doors that are scheduled to be locked upon completion of cleaning.
- Report to your immediate supervisor of anything that not working properly or malfunctioning
Porter Responsibilities:
- Perform heavy physical labor moving and pushing large amounts of trash
- Ability to operate freight car
- Operate heavy and specialized equipment safely and efficiently
- Operate tools and equipment in general custodial work
- Understand and follow work directions as provided by supervisor
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
- Requires bending, squatting, crawling, lifting and reaching
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, swing or pull medium weights up to 75 pounds, which includes lifting over head
Pantry Maintenance:
Includes cleaning all vertical and horizontal surfaces. Clean microwave and refrigerator, if directed. Thoroughly sweep and damp mop floor.
Clean Lavatories
Includes emptying all waste receptacles and replacing with a new clear plastic liner; thoroughly clean all fixtures (i.e., toilet bowls, urinal, sinks, partitions, mirrors) with an approved disinfectant; replenish all soap and paper dispensers; and thoroughly wash all floors with an approved disinfectant.
Floor Care
Machine scrub floors making sure the corners are thoroughly cleaned. Thoroughly rinse scrubbed floor areas and apply floor finish. Thoroughly sweep, damp mop and spray buff hard floor surfaces.
Note: Special care must be taken not to splash solution on walls, doors and furniture.
Rubbish Collection
Operate freight elevator, remove all rubbish from designated freight elevator lobbies. Ensure that all floors (freight lobbies) are thoroughly swept and mopped.
Rubbish Disposal
Ensure all collected rubbish is disposed of in the proper containers (i.e., wet or dry trash).

Qualifications
- Prior office cleaning experience or similar environment
- Operate tools and equipment in general custodial work
- Meet all schedule and timelines
- Understand and follow work directions as provided by supervisor
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Follow instructions per tenant request
- Work cooperatively with others
- Observe health and safety regulations
- Ability to utilize two-way radio to receive information and assignments and report on project and assignment progress from various locations
- Work is performed while standing and or walking
- Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
- Requires bending, squatting, crawling, lifting and reaching
- Requires activities that involve being around moving machinery, exposure to changes in temperature, and exposure to dust and chemical fumes
