Vacation Replacement Security Officer will provide vacation coverage within our Midtown Properties from approximately February 15 to December 31, 2025. Please note this position has a limited term of five months with the opportunity for long-term retention based on business needs and performance evaluation. The Security Officer will work with Security Team Leaders to maintain a safe and secure environment for its employees, tenants, and visitors.
Pay Rate is $21.20 per hour. Additionally, this position would be eligible for overtime for all hours actually worked, consistent with the Local 32BJ Collective Bargaining Agreement. The overtime rate is $31.80 per hour. Please note that wages are subject to tax withholdings and other applicable deductions.
Overnight differential pay of 10% for employees who work designated overnight hours.
Responsibilities:
Security Officers will be required to execute a number of comprehensive and integrated security measures and countermeasures and must be able to adapt physically to the changing needs and priorities of the Security Department. Security posts will vary and may include exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
- Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.
- Must possess agility, and visual and auditory acuity to perform the essential responsibilities of this position
- Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate calmly, effectively, and courteously in both emergency and non- emergency situations
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, typically for the duration of an 8-hour shift
- Must have a technical aptitude and willingness to learn how to perform security x-ray and screening procedure and use required equipment
- Knowledgeable and ability to use x-ray image recognition, Magnetometer alarm resolution, and related technologies preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Successful candidates will have earned their high school diplomas or equivalent. College level course coursework is a plus
- Must possess a valid New York State Security Guard License (8 & 16 hours)
