Overview:
The Durst Organization is seeking an Engineer; this role is a Local 94 union position and will be based at 114 West 47th Street.
The shift and schedule for this position will be Monday - Friday, 3pm-11pm. Days Off Saturday and Sunday.
Salary range is $46.31-51.46 per hour.
Responsibilities:
- In a safe manner, start up, regulate, repair, and shut down equipment
- Ensure equipment operates safely and within established limits by monitoring attached meters, gauges, and computerized controls
- Use of hand and power tools to perform repairs and maintenance ranging from a complete overhaul to replacing defective valves, gaskets, or bearings in a safe manner
- Record relevant events and facts concerning operation and maintenance in an equipment log
- Audit safety device and identify and troubleshoot any problem areas
- Test and chemically treat hydronic systems to prevent corrosion and harmful deposits
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2-4 years as operating engineer in high-rise commercial building
- Must possess working knowledge of BMS and have control experience
- EPA Universal Certification; Experience with Steam and Electrical Systems and Sprinkler Standpipe Systems
- Knowledge of other Fire Safety systems
- Minimum of 2 - 4 years basic electrical experience – that encompassed minor troubleshooting and wiring
- Minimum of 2-4 years plumbing experience – bathroom repair, soldering, pipe threading
- Physical ability to climb ladders and lift up to 75 lbs. on a regular basis, enter and operate in confined spaces, operate power tools.
- Ability to work with exposure to elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold, or chemicals.
- Valid New York City Fire Department Refrigeration Machine Operator License with a minimum of 2 – 4 years continuous experience in the industry.
- Able to obtain fire safety Certificates of Fitness from FDNY and complete OSHA courses in areas of confined space, fall protection, Construction Safety & Health Course
- Possess or acquire and maintain the following FDNY Certificates of Fitness to operate and inspect building systems
- A-35 Operate Air Compressor
- F-01 Citywide Fire Guard for Impairment
- F-60 Fire Guard for Torch Operations
- G-60 Torch use of Flammable gases
- S-12 Supervision of Sprinkler Systems
- S-13 Supervision of Standpipe Systems
- P-98 Fuel Oil Piping and Storage System
