EVERY™ is seeking a Senior Process Engineer - Capital Projects to design, procure, install, and startup its precision fermentation and downstream manufacturing processes at commercial scale to produce animal proteins without the animal for the global food and beverage industry.
In this crucial role you will be leading the process engineering design for capital projects with EVERY™’s Manufacturing Partners. You will coordinate and manage work by EPCs (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction firms) in evaluation of project scopes and Equipment Vendors to design and select equipment suitable for EVERY’s processes and products. Internally, you will work closely with our world-class Manufacturing and Scale-up Engineering, Operations, Quality, and R&D teams to identify and optimize the design of equipment unit operations, integration of the processes, and retrofitting of existing facilities on time and on budget to produce EVERY™’s products that meet process, quality, and product requirements and regulations.
You will identify design readiness and gaps, manage risks, prioritize and coordinate work of internal and external parties, and create key engineering and project documentation. You will use project management methodologies, templates and tools (e.g. Smartsheets, Excel/Google Sheets, MS Project, Lucidcharts, Visio, etc.) to manage work. You will also communicate status, escalate issues, and propose solutions to drive results, budget, and schedule with a diverse group of stakeholders.
What you'll accomplish
Design and Implementation:
- Develop and implement detailed plans for scalable design solutions.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to prioritize and manage work.
- Create and manage key documentation, including Design Basis, Block and Process Flow Diagrams, and User Requirement Specifications.
- You will work with EPCs and equipment vendors to further design the process and units to successfully implement solutions to meet project objectives and produce high quality products.
Cost Improvement:
- Lead value engineering exercises to achieve budget and schedule targets
- Conduct cost-benefit and trade-off analyses to support project assessments
Risk Management:
- Identify and manage key project risks using RAID or similar methodologies.
Project Management Expertise:
- Lead planning and execution project or key parts of project scope, ensuring timely and budget-conscious completion.
- Independently manage and identify internal and external resource needs to achieve objectives
- Provide regular updates to senior management and stakeholders.
Equipment and Procurement:
- Collaborate with vendors to identify cost-effective solutions.
- Draft Scopes of Work, Requests for Proposals, and manage competitive bidding processes.
- Coordinate commissioning, FAT/SAT, and startup activities.
Metrics & Goal Setting:
- Implement OKRs and generate reports with KPIs to measure operational effectiveness.
- Develop and execute plans that meet company and program objectives
What you bring (required)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Process Engineering, Project Engineering, and/or Project Management on either the customer or EPC/consulting side
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (chemical, mechanical, fermentation, bioprocessing, or similar preferred) or a technical degree with demonstrated experience.
- Knowledge of fermentation-based processes and downstream processes, such as centrifugation, separation/membrane processes, spray drying, and other unit operations.
- Strong organizational skills and a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to distill the key objectives from ambiguity and drive them with changing priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management ability
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel 30% of the time
Nice-to-have (but not required)
- Experience with and deep knowledge of project management skills and tools
- Knowledge of biotech and food industry regulations and quality standards.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Professional Engineering (PE) certification

At EVERY™, pay ranges are subject to change and assigned to a job based on the location-specific market median of similar jobs according to 3rd party salary benchmark surveys. This role's pay range for Bay Area individuals is $120,000 - 130,000 + Stock Options pay within that range can vary for several reasons, including skills/capabilities, experience, and available budget.
