IT Infrastructure Manager

IT at THE ICONIC..

Our IT team keeps our metaphorical lights on when it comes to our tech. We design, implement, manage and support the enabling technologies to keep our hubs and teams operational. We are a dedicated group of IT Service Desk Specialists, Business Partners & Systems Engineers and we are here to help all Iconites.

About the role.. 

This is a hands-on technical leader responsible for the delivery, and operational excellence of The ICONIC’s hybrid infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and on-prem/Active Directory.

Infrastructure Strategy & Operations (Azure, Hybrid)

  • Define and execute the hybrid cloud and infrastructure roadmap, aligning to enterprise architecture and security standards.
  • Drive modernisation, standardisation, and automation (e.g., repeatable builds, configuration baselines, self-service patterns).
  • Lead performance, capacity, and cost optimisation across Azure; implement practical FinOps controls (tagging standards, budget alerts).
  • Establish operational practices across all infrastructure: patching, lifecycle, platform health, and decommissioning.

Platforms, Networks & Systems (in-house networking)

  • Oversee and improve:
    • Enterprise networks (LAN/WAN/Wi‑Fi,VPN/remote access, DNS/DHCP/IP management)
    • Cloud networking (VPC/VNet design, routing, peering, gateways)
    • Core systems (server platforms, storage, backup, virtualisation)
    • Identity services (Active Directory, Azure AD/Entra, SSO)

Resilience, Security & Compliance

  • Own infrastructure resilience strategy including BCP/DR, backups, restore validation, and regular DR exercises aligned to business RTO/RPO targets.
  • Maintain robust security controls across network and infrastructure including secure configurations/hardening, vulnerability remediation; privileged access controls, logging/monitoring, and secure remote connectivity.
  • Partner with Security/Risk/Audit to implement, test, and continuously improve control effectiveness.

Leadership & Capability (team of 3): Lead a small specialist team with clear accountability, coaching, and an execution-focused operating rhythm.

What you’ll bring to the role.. 

  • Strong experience managing enterprise networking in-house (routing/switching, firewalling, VPN, segmentation, Wi‑Fi, WAN/internet edge).
  • Practical experience operating hybrid environments across AWS and Azure, including cloud networking fundamentals (VPC/VNet, routing, security boundaries).
  • Identity and access platform knowledge including Active Directory and cloud identity integration patterns (e.g., Azure AD/Entra concepts as used in your environment).
  • Solid operational engineering: monitoring/alerting, incident/problem/change management, patching and lifecycle discipline.
  • Ability to design and implement resilient platforms: backups, restore testing, DR runbooks, and high availability patterns.
  • Leadership: Proven experience leading small technical teams (e.g., 2–6 people) with hands-on involvement.
  • Compliance: Experience working in an audited environment; (change management, access control, monitoring/logging, evidence collection)
  • Project management practices (e.g., PRINCE2, Scrum, etc) desirable
  • Experience IT Service Management practices (e.g., ITIL aligned), especially change governance and problem management.
