Position Overview
The Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) Pediatrics plays a critical role in supporting both patients and providers; ensuring care is delivered efficiently, accurately, and with compassion.
This position serves as a key member of the care team, responsible for clinical support, patient flow, and coordination of care; contributing to improved patient outcomes and overall clinic operations.
What You’ll Do
Clinical Support & Patient Care
- Prepare and stock exam rooms to ensure readiness for patient care
- Room patients, obtain vital signs, and assess needs to support provider decision-making
- Assist providers with procedures and direct patient care
- Administer injections, perform EKGs, and support treatment interventions
- Perform point-of-care testing and specimen preparation in compliance with CLIA standards
Care Coordination & Patient Communication
- Triage patient phone calls and respond to clinical inquiries
- Review test results, medications, and coordinate pharmacy communication
- Facilitate referrals and support continuity of care
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care teams to support outcomes
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete accurate and timely documentation within the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
- Maintain compliance with clinical and regulatory standards including OSHA, CLIA, ADA, and VFC requirements
- Ensure proper handling of patient information and adherence to organizational protocols
What You Bring
Required
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
- Graduate of an accredited ABHES or CAAHEP Medical Assistant program
- High school diploma or equivalent
- American Heart Association BLS certification
- Strong knowledge of clinical procedures and patient care practices
- Computer proficiency with accurate data entry skills
Preferred
- Experience in an ambulatory or outpatient care setting
- Familiarity with VFC, CHIRP, and VOMS systems
- Experience supporting diverse patient populations in a fast-paced environment
