The Jane Pauley Community Health Center (JPCHC) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Peer Technician to join our behavioral health team at the Turning Point location in Kokomo, IN. This role is ideal for someone with lived experience in recovery who is passionate about supporting others on their journey to wellness.
 

As a Peer Technician, you will play a vital role in promoting recovery through peer-based support, engagement, and advocacy. You’ll work closely with clinical and administrative staff to ensure a safe, structured, and empowering environment for clients.
 

Job Responsibilities ( but not limited to)

  • Supervise and engage clients during daily activities, breaks, and outings
  • Act as a liaison between clients and clinical staff, communicating needs and concerns
  • Support clinical staff with recovery-focused care and therapeutic activities
  • Monitor client safety, facility upkeep, and compliance with program rules
  • Administer drug screenings and document client behavior and progress
  • Provide orientation to new clients regarding program expectations and services
  • Assist in crisis situations and report incidents to the clinical team
  • Maintain accurate logs and documentation in the electronic health record
  • Participate in mandatory trainings and contribute to quality improvement efforts
  • Promote harm reduction and recovery principles in all interactions

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage crisis situations and maintain professional boundaries
  • Knowledge of peer support risk management and recovery principles
  • Organized, self-motivated, and able to “read the need”
  • Comfortable working in diverse environments and with vulnerable populations
  • Familiarity with harm reduction, HIPAA, and behavioral health documentation
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Preferred: Certified Addiction Peer Recovery Coach (CAPRC)
  • Valid Driver’s License preferred
  • Experience in behavioral health, addiction recovery, or peer support strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of ICAADA Peer Code of Ethics and CAPRC Standards of Practice a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems
