The Patient Service Representative (PSR) serves as the main point of contact for patients both in person and on the phone. The PSR communicates with patients in a warm friendly manner to obtain information needed for scheduling and registering patients. The PSR ensures that all demographics and insurance information is collected and correctly entered into Electronic Health Record (EHR). This role will support Lawrence Township school-based providers remotely.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Demonstrates exceptional customer service and communicates effectively with patients and patients’ families.
- Schedules patient appointments.
- Interacts with patients in a friendly respectful manner.
- Determines information needed for patient registration and provides appropriate documentation.
- Determines and verifies insurance status and/or patient’s eligibility for financial assistance programs and collects appropriate documentation from patients and patients’ family.
- Collects patient co-payments and practices proper money handling as defined by JPCHC standards.
- Answers telephone calls by third ring and text messages within one hour.
- Transfer calls appropriately.
- Assists with medical record requests.
- Prepares and mails patient correspondence as directed.
- Responds to messages left within one business day.
- Responsible for neatness and appearance of the patient waiting area.
- Participates in all departmental and organizational meetings.
- All other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
- Knowledge of medical office practices
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Two years of experience in an ambulatory healthcare setting
- High school diploma or GED
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (specifically Word and Excel), Electronic Medical and Health records, and other applications.
