The Jewish Federation of Greater Raleigh has long been the heart of the Jewish community in the region. We serve the areas of Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Holly Springs, Wake Forest, Wendell, Knightdale, Henderson, Oxford, and areas east of Raleigh including New Bern. Over the past four decades, the Jewish Federation has identified and found ways to meet the needs and opportunities facing the Jewish community, in order to welcome new Jewish residents, engage them in a flourishing community, and empower them to live meaningful lives.
The Greater Raleigh area is known for its high quality of life, boasting tech innovation, arts and outdoor attractions, rich cultural assets, and pleasant year-round climate. The Greater Raleigh Jewish community is home to an estimated 21,600 Jewish individuals, with seven congregations representing various movements, youth groups, active young adult groups, and other Jewish organizations.

Scope of the CEO Role
Reporting directly to the President of the Jewish Federation of Greater Raleigh and accountable to the Board of Directors and its Executive Committee, the CEO will work toward the fulfillment of the Federation’s core values and large-scale communal goals and objectives. The CEO will guide all major divisions – including the JCC, JCRC, and JFS - in achieving their collective missions through strategic leadership, philanthropic and programmatic engagement, and operational excellence.
The CEO Will:
● Articulate and build consensus around a compelling and relevant community vision
● Bring industry knowledge, fundraising expertise, financial acumen, and business savvy
● Foster an environment of collaborative planning, resource generation, and highquality program delivery
● Hold significant responsibility for stewarding and soliciting major donors
● Manage the senior professional team and lay/professional relationships
● Nurture community partnerships
I. Executive Presence & Strategic Leadership:
● Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement a long-term strategic vision, fostering innovation and positive communal change
● Partner with lay and professional stakeholders to create a welcoming home to serve and support the entire Greater Raleigh Jewish community
● Serve as a public face of the local Jewish community and the broader civic landscape
● Grow strategic community partnerships, including with elected and government officials, highlighting issues of concern to the Jewish people locally and globally
● Lead the design of new initiatives to meet strategic objectives, constantly evaluating existing programs for greatest potential impact
● Engage younger generations and those new to the area, creating pathways for involvement and leadership in the Jewish community
● Actively support and engage with volunteers, promoting a culture of inclusivity and collaboration across the Federation’s network
II. Financial Resource Development:
● Hold responsibility for a significant portfolio of major current and prospective donors, including direct involvement in major gift solicitations and grant seeking
● Partner with lay leaders in executing fundraising activities and special campaign efforts
● Develop and refine cases for support, impact reports, and custom donor materials; spearhead the creation of additional methods to communicate the Federation’s impact ● Review and approve grant proposals, ensuring all reporting requirements are met
III. Organizational Management:
● Supervise and champion the professional growth and effectiveness of Federation staff
● Serve as a mentor, guiding senior team members in goals setting and progress monitoring in alignment with organizational priorities
● Play a key role in developing the annual operating budget, ensuring compliance
● Set annual and quarterly organizational goals, provide structured progress updates, and adjust as needed to remain aligned with strategic objectives
● Engage in regular progress monitoring and reporting, ensuring transparency and accountability in all major initiatives
● Spearhead all aspects of resource allocation, in alignment with budgetary oversight
● Guide the Board of Trustees in best practices related to policy and governance
● Facilitate crisis management, ensuring that staff, board members, and volunteers have the support they need in urgent and challenging times
● Assure that the Federation’s facility has appropriate security protocols
● Lead by example, embodying the Federation’s values in daily interactions and promoting an environment that supports diversity and inclusion
Compensation Package Base Salary Range:
