Population Health + Wellness Manager

About the job 

As a Population Health + Wellness Manager at The MJ Companies, you will be the primary point of contact for clients regarding wellness and population health initiatives. You will lead the implementation and long-term success of these strategies, ensuring they align with each client’s culture and goals. Collaborating closely with internal teams, vendors, and clients, you will deliver targeted, data-driven health solutions that drive measurable outcomes. Your role will also support the ongoing development of MJ’s population health platform, Aperture, helping integrate best practices and client feedback into evolving strategies. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Client-Facing Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as the day-to-day lead for client engagements focused on wellness and population health, supporting implementation and long-term success of solutions. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key client stakeholders, ensuring alignment with client culture, environment, and strategic goals. 
  • Support the development of client-facing presentations and participate in core meetings alongside Client Executives. 
  • Assist in identifying population health opportunities using client-specific data and collaborate with internal teams to recommend and implement targeted interventions. 

Program Execution & Oversight: 

  • Manage the execution of population health strategies for mid-to-large-sized clients across all MJ markets, coordinating efforts across internal and external teams. 
  • Provide oversight and mentorship to Strategists or Coordinators supporting the same clients or deliverables. 
  • Work closely with wellness vendors to monitor implementation progress and address performance gaps in real-time. 

Vendor & Partner Collaboration: 

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with third-party vendors and wellness solution providers. 
  • Collaborate with vendors to ensure timely data collection and effective service delivery, escalating concerns when necessary. 
  • Participate in vendor negotiations related to population health programming and services under senior leadership guidance. 

Internal Collaboration & Contribution: 

  • Collaborate with the Analytics team to interpret third-party data and contribute to the refinement of client deliverables. 
  • Support the evolution of the population health platform by sharing client feedback and helping integrate emerging best practices. 
  • Serve as a resource to junior team members, guiding them on client-facing issues, project prioritization, and vendor interactions. 

 

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Exercise Physiology, Health Promotion, or a related field. 

 

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of experience in wellness, health promotion, or benefits consulting. 
  • Proven ability to manage projects, timelines, and client expectations effectively. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a consultative, client-centered approach. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, evolving environment. 
  • Familiarity with clinical risk profiling algorithms (e.g., Johns Hopkins ACG) and population health reporting tools is strongly preferred. 

 

TECHNICAL FUNCTIONS

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint). 
  • Able to interpret data analytics to shape client insights and solution recommendations. 
  • Familiarity with clinical risk profiling algorithms (e.g., Johns Hopkins ACG) and population health reporting tools is strongly preferred.
