Client Executive, MJ Retirement
About the Job
The Client Executive at MJ Retirement is a frontline representative of The MJ Companies, serving as the primary point of contact for clients and supporting both clients and advisors through superior service, effective onboarding, and comprehensive plan and fund administration. This role ensures clients meet their fiduciary responsibilities while helping employees access the tools they need to achieve their retirement goals. A successful Client Executive is a proactive problem-solver with strong analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to build trust and strong client relationships quickly, ensuring seamless communication and execution of all retirement plan services.
Essential Functions
Client Service & Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned plan sponsors, delivering superior client service through proactive communication and effective issue resolution.
- Lead client meetings, including quarterly committee reviews and other key sessions.
- Troubleshoot client challenges, provide timely solutions, and coordinate regular check-ins to maintain strong satisfaction.
- Manage new client onboarding, plan transitions, and client terminations to ensure a smooth and consistent experience.
Client Support & Administration
- Lead and manage vendor RFP/RFI processes to support client needs and evaluate service provider options.
- Stay current on regulatory developments and industry trends, communicating relevant updates to clients in a clear and timely manner.
- Build strong relationships with recordkeepers and oversee processes related to plan or fund changes.
- Interpret compliance testing results and provide clients with informed recommendations for potential plan design improvements.
- Maintain accurate and consistent data across internal systems and platforms.
- Clearly communicate complex ERISA regulations and guide clients in upholding fiduciary best practices.
- Provide employee education to clients to help their employees achieve financial well-being.
Team Support and Growth
- Learn and share knowledge with the team to help the overall team become more technically proficient.
- Provide content to be used to share with team, clients and prospects.
- Participate with an advisor in prospective client meetings.
- Identify and pursue cross‑selling opportunities across the MJ organization.
- Build and strengthen relationships with MJR and other internal departments to support collaborative growth.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered.
- Professional designations:
- CPFA, QKA, CRPS, or equivalent preferred.
- FINRA Series 6/7/65/66 licenses are strongly preferred.
- Candidates without the required licenses must obtain the Series 65 within the first 120 days of employment.
Knowledge & Experience
- 5–10 years of experience in retirement plan services or sales, including direct client-facing responsibilities.
- Experience with retirement plan recordkeeping, investment platforms, and compliance requirements is required.
- Strong understanding of financial analysis and reporting.
- Ability to manage multiple client relationships in a fast-paced environment.
Technical Functions
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Power BI and data management tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Familiarity with CRM platforms like Microsoft Dynamics and HubSpot
