What does this team do?

At Motley Fool Money Management, our team utilizes technology to optimize investment strategies, balancing risk and reward while ensuring a seamless investment process for both clients and our business. From enhancing client-facing web applications to integrating with financial/technology systems, our mission is to create value every day.

What would you do in this role?

As a Senior Full-Stack ReactJS and Python/Django Developer, you'll become an integral part of our existing team, contributing to the management of billions of dollars in client assets across diverse funds and businesses. While a financial background is very beneficial, it's not mandatory; we value individuals ready to immerse themselves in the business and develop expertise over time.

But what does this role actually do?

  • Build new features and maintain the existing infrastructure of the SMA system, powering foolwealth.com, generating algorithmic advice, and equipping certified financial planners with tools to enhance global investment strategies.
  • Integrate with technology partners such as Interactive Brokers, Charles Schwab, Orion Advisor, and HubSpot to manage client accounts, trade assets, deliver performance reporting, and track client relationships.
  • Collaborate directly with key stakeholders, including financial planners, customer experience representatives, traders, marketers, and business leadership, in defining requirements and designing innovative features.
  • Navigate the challenging balance of complying with financial regulations while delivering software in an agile environment.
  • Help architect new features
  • Help raise the bar across the entire regulated tech team by mentoring junior members and being able to engage in cheerful technical debate

We’d love to work with you if:

  • You solve problems: Identifying issues and inefficiencies is second nature to you, and you actively propose and implement solutions.
  • You pay attention to detail: You understand the importance of accountability, actively seek code reviews, and value testing for robust solutions.
  • You’re curious and love to learn: Your appetite for knowledge extends to the latest technology, understanding the business, and the realms of finance and investing.
  • You take pride in your work: Ensuring a seamless experience for every customer is your priority, and you are committed to building solutions that meet high standards.

What do you need to apply?

  • Proficiency in ReactJS/NextJS and Python/Django (5+ years experience)
  • Proficiency in web markup, including HTML5 and CSS3
  • Experience writing code that is deployed to a cloud environment

It’s even better if you have:

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • Ability to fully implement a reference design from Figma into code
  • Familiarity with D3.js or other visualization/graphing/charting libraries
  • Work experience in e-commerce, finance, investing, or FinTech
  • Advanced SQL skills
  • Experience with containerized deployments using Docker and/or Amazon ECS
  • Solid understanding of AWS native tools
  • A solid understanding of financial industry data providers
  • Experience with Microsoft Playwright, Cypress or other similar testing tools
