Why We Need You
We are seeking a dynamic Digital Content Producer to contribute to our social video production efforts and increase audience engagement with science content across various social and digital platforms. This position calls for strong editorial judgment, video production expertise, and thorough knowledge of social media best practices. Through innovative storytelling approaches, this role will amplify the Museum’s digital reach and ensure our social media presence stays engaging, timely, and impactful.
What You’ll Accomplish
- Grow the Museum’s digital reach by producing creative and engaging digital media content for distribution across social and digital channels and products.
- The digital content producer will produce short and mid-form social-first videos for distribution on social channels.
- From brainstorming to shooting to on-schedule asset delivery, you will contribute videos that drive reach, views, and audience engagement.
- Develop clever ways to illustrate complex science concepts through video. Own consistent shooting and editing style for video franchises.
- Own pre-production, including research and scripting as well as shooting live events for delivery via social channels, classrooms, and beyond. These events will also be edited into short, medium, and long form videos for distribution.
- Deliver polished edits adhering to brand voice that illustrate a keen understanding of what works on social media and for our audience.
- Capture interviews with guest scientists, celebrities, politicians, and other VIPs during both scheduled and spontaneous visits to the Museum.
- Work with the Director of MoS studios to maintain our production equipment and studio space.
- Perform other work-related duties as required by Manager.
What We’re Looking For
Project Management
- Extensive knowledge and experience owning and producing video projects from concept through delivery.
- Experience working with and directing on-camera talent, including in-house creators and guest interviews.
Technical Chops
- Experience with professional cinema cameras, including Sony and Canon DSLR and mirrorless cameras. This includes knowledge of different picture profiles, lens, and filters and knowledge of when to utilize them.
- Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications, specifically Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop. The ability to use these tools to turn around edits quickly and efficiently is fundamental to this position.
- Ability to record and edit high-quality audio.
Calm Under Pressure
- Demonstrated experience on a live production set, with the ability to both give and take direction. You must be able to capture high-quality audio and video assets while also directing your talent and interview subjects.
Strategic Visioning
- Proven experience producing video content for social media channels that is high performing in terms of reach. Experience as a native social content creator a plus.
- Experience leveraging video performance metrics (views, watch time, engagement rates, audience retention) to glean insights and refine/enhance future content strategies. Must be able to work on multiple projects and complete high-quality work in context of tight deadlines.

- Ability and experience working within collaborative team structures and within editorial structures and protocols.
- Effective communication and organizational skills. We are a team that moves quickly and at the pace of change, and these skills will be imperative to creating successful content at the pace of change.

Salary Range
$57,600 - $72,000 USD
