Sales Director, Advocacy & Public Affairs

About the Role
As a Sales Director at The New York Times, you will use a consultative approach to oversee assigned client and account relationships, and act as a seasoned salesperson in the designated category and industry. You will report to the Senior Head of Industry, Advertising Sales.
You will manage many complex and dynamic accounts. You are a team player and contribute to the goals and success of The NYT's Advertising Department, and our mission. You will be external-facing, meeting with clients in person frequently, and travel for client meetings will be necessary.
This role is based in Washington, DC.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain relationships with clients and agency partners within the advocacy and public affairs industry.
- Exceed quarterly and annual sales revenue targets.
- Work cross-funcationally with advertising partner teams to ensure we are maximizing our advertising revenue and profitability.
- Present NYT's ad product suite as a means to solve marketer challenges.
- Maintain a rich pipeline of revenue opportunities.
- Forecast advertising revenue.
- Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience growing business and exceeding revenue goals by delivering quarterly or annually revenue growth.
- 3+ years of experience leading sales partnerships, managing external sales meetings, and collaborating with partner teams to accomplish sales outcomes.
- Experience managing a sales pipeline to forecast revenue.
- Category expertise in the Advocacy & Public Affairs sector.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of NYT products, our features, our journalism with the ability to present at length with clients on these topics.
- Experience with client-networking and developing new industry contacts (book of business).
- Experience managing an existing book of business to depend partnerships and grow revenue.

The annual base pay range for this role is between:
$112,145.28 - $130,000 USD
