Director, Project Development

About the role:
The Project Development Director is responsible for overseeing the entire project development process, from initial concept to financial investment decision. This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of the project development lifecycle for energy infrastructure. The Director will build and lead a team of professionals and collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure successful project execution. This role reports into the Chief Development Officer.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive project development strategy aligned with the company's overall goals.
- Project Initiation: Identify and assess potential projects, evaluating their feasibility, profitability, and alignment with company objectives.
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of project development professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and support.
- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including investors, government agencies, and community groups.
- Financial Analysis: Provide informed inputs to our CFO organization for financial analysis of projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and risk assessment.
- Permitting and Approvals: Build a permitting matrix and oversee the permitting and approval process, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
- Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts with suppliers, contractors, and other parties involved in the project that supports pre-FID work.
- Project Oversight: Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and take corrective action as needed.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that projects meet high standards of quality and adhere to best practices.
- Reporting: Prepare regular reports on project status, financial performance, and key metrics.
Experience:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in project development, preferably in the energy and infrastructure sector.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects from inception to pre-FID.
- Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Deep understanding of the project development lifecycle and industry best practices.
- Ability to analyze financial data and make sound business decisions.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
Additional Experience:
- Prior experience with DOE LPO
- PMP certification
- Advanced degree in business administration, engineering, or a related field.
- Six Sigma Certification

Estimated Starting Salary Range:
The estimated starting salary range for this role is $175,000 - $200,000 annually less applicable withholdings and deductions, paid on a semi-monthly basis. The actual salary offered may vary based on relevant factors as determined in the Company’s discretion, which may include experience, qualifications, tenure, skill set, availability of qualified candidates, geographic location, certifications held, and other criteria deemed pertinent to the particular role.
