Power Systems & Interconnection Specialist

About the role: Lead and execute complex power system studies and manage interconnection processes for nuclear projects. Act as the technical authority across multidisciplinary teams to ensure reliable grid integration and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver load flow, short-circuit, transient and small-signal stability, electromagnetic transient, reliability, and system impact assessments.
- Ensure planning and performance studies comply with industry standards and good engineering practices.
- Deliver detailed and practical modeling outputs and comprehensive technical reports.
- Manage end-to-end interconnection for large generator projects, coordinating with internal teams, clients, utilities, and subcontractors.
- Lead electrical design development, including modeling packages and technical drawings.
- Oversee interconnection applications—ensuring timely, accurate documentation and compliance with ISO/RTO and utility standards.
- Serve as technical lead and escalation point for interconnection challenges.
- Maintain up-to-date awareness of interconnection regulations, procedures, and standards across ISO/RTOs and major utilities.
- Perform QA/QC on deliverables from internal and third-party teams.
- Collaborate closely with development teams to refine and optimize process flows.
- Drive internal process improvements to enhance consistency, efficiency, and data accuracy.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering (focus on power systems preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in power system planning, interconnection, or generator integration—energy (renewable/nuclear) or utility contexts.
- Proficiency with industry-standard tools: PSS/E, PSLF, ETAP, PSCAD, PowerWorld, Aspen One-Liner, TARA, etc.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities for complex modeling studies.
- Excellent communication skills to convey technical information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience conducting QA/QC on technical deliverables and interconnection studies.
- Knowledge of ISO/RTO, NERC, FERC protocols, and regional interconnection processes. Specific experience with ERCOT, MISO, PJM, and SPP is valued.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent understanding of power market fundamentals.

Estimated Starting Salary Range:
The estimated starting salary range for this role is $150,000 - $173,000 annually less applicable withholdings and deductions, paid on a semi-monthly basis. The actual salary offered may vary based on relevant factors as determined in the Company’s discretion, which may include experience, qualifications, tenure, skill set, availability of qualified candidates, geographic location, certifications held, and other criteria deemed pertinent to the particular role.
