About the role
The Traveling I&C Technician – Power Generation supports the maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of instrumentation and control systems across fossil, combined cycle, and nuclear power generation facilities nationwide. This role performs installation, testing, and repair of plant instrumentation, turbine control systems, and associated electrical components to ensure safe, reliable plant operations. Technicians will work closely with plant maintenance teams during outages and project work, supporting critical system performance while adhering to strict safety and quality standards.
PROJECT-BASED TRAVEL ROLE: This position is not based in Columbia, SC. We are collecting applications for professionals willing to travel to nuclear power plant sites nationwide as outage and project work becomes available. Work will take place at nuclear facilities across the United States as projects are awarded, and roles will be activated as project staffing needs are confirmed.
Responsibilities
- Travel to power generation facilities nationwide to support outage, maintenance, and project work
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, loop drawings, and instrumentation diagrams
- Perform calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of plant instrumentation and control systems
- Utilize multimeters, signal generators, and diagnostic tools to verify system performance
- Support turbine control systems, balance-of-plant instrumentation, and temporary power installations during outages
- Conduct loop checks, functional testing, and system verification during commissioning and maintenance activities
- Follow plant procedures, work packages, and safety standards while performing field work
Experience / Required Qualifications
- Experience working with instrumentation and control (I&C) systems in power generation or industrial environments
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and plant procedures
- Experience performing calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems
- Ability and willingness to travel full-time to plant sites during outage and project cycles
- Ability to pass required background screening, drug testing, and comply with PPE and site-specific safety training requirements (including Powersafe)
